I will keep you up to date on new map with this thread. I hope to make a great map that everyone will love to play...
Here are early pics of the USMC Staging area, I tried to design as close as possible to the actual google map of Karbala, Iraq. I am always open to feedback, good or bad and I hope this process will make for the best playable map. The map will be USMC vs Insurgents...

Looks like a good start.
Maybe use a few more of the PR statics, for example, those bunker tower things at the entrance could be replaced with the new brown Hesco ones.

Take full advantage of the PR statics. People LOVE enterable buildings, and more freedom is better. Build that city up.

The concrete wall around the market area feels very unnatural especially if there are going to be buildings all around that area like in the picture. I would use Hesco barriers instead but that's just me.

I deffinetely want the guard towers at the usmc base to have .50 cals for protection, but not sure if my current ones are mountable. Are there any guard towers in PR_edit folder that already have the .50 cal mounted? I looked last night but couldnt find one.

So far that masque area looks far to small. Each one of those masque areas should be the size of the one on Al Basrah, with the masque elevated and surrounded by a big courtyard. Then instead of using those walls to surround the entire area, use the PR sandbag walls with barbed wire on top.

Looking good keep the updates coming. tho on the birds eye view map thingy it looks like the 2 mosques are surrounded by houses not walls.

I am trying to simulate the usmc staging area as a former Saddam Hussein palace that has been taken over by us forces (true to life and is the situation over there now with old palaces) and not a mosque area. I am using mosques as the palaces becasue its the closest thing that PR has to a palace. All of Saddams palaces have huge walls around them as i have modded and not barrels. I am placing razor wire fencing around the entire staging area with enough buffer so that nading and moltoving the main is impossible..
DanUK, there is a wall around the palace area in pic, it is just covered by my red line around it. The pic is Sadams old palace in Karbala and was at one time used by the us army for staging asaults in the city.
I am mapping out the city and road networks on paper for max action and shootout capabilities. I am gonna try and make every building enterable and hopefully place alot of the caches in areas of the city where you must destroy a wall or fence before you can even enter the area, so demolition teams are a must. Thanks for the input so far guys...

There is a palace from the SF expansion (Warlord Map) that i think is in PR, Hfett is using it in his Gaza map. Try using that one (its enterable too:smile

Thanks pride, for some reason I was under the impression that the use of non PR objects was a big no no unless hand modded and skined. Hopefuly a Dev or Mod can help with this question.

There are lots of SF statics in PR. The airport in Basrah for example.
IIRC the Project Reality Dev team got special permission from EA to use the SF stuff in PR.

PR is allowed to use SF Statics, but its not really official permission as much as 'Some d00d from EA said we could"
