Merlin - Fantastic

I have read a few posts about bugs in the Merlin. I had my first fly in it the other night and I really enjoyed myself. Even though I am not a fan of large birds, I feel it is the best helicopter in the game. It handles well and the sounds are brilliant.

It does feel a bit empty in the back though, and flying such a big bird around with only 6 troops in the back seems a waste. Why is it that we have stopped at 6, what about making 10 spaces in the back?

yea the merlin is god I just wish it had a GPMG. I hate having to get a squad mate to get a SAW and gun in the door!

Yea, gunnin from the merlin isn't so hot- or maybe I'm just **** with the SAW...

The Merlin is definately my favourite chopper, but isn't there a seat limit with the choppers?

If EA had managed to make a game where models don't rub against each other until one decides to die, the Merlin would be the single best vehicle in all BF2

You can only have a max of 8 seats in a vehicle in BF2, I think, but I think the Merlin should at least get a couple .50s in the weapons officer seats on either side of the thing.

Gotcha, I thought a way around that had been discovered, what a bugger. then instead of the Merlin why aren't we using the Lynx? Surely it is a little more realsitic to fly a squad of 6 around in one of those puppies?

Because someone has to model, unwrap, skin, uv map, animate, code, etc. it. Want to?

Just curious, how hard would it be for someone who has never done anything like it before to model the lynx?

Very hard unless you have an artistic ability I think

A tailgunner for the Merlin on the rear ramp I would like see but I dont know if it would open and close then and I presume this was all looked into when the model was in production

I'm not too sure about the best goods. It's more like deliver the worst goods that you have no alternative other then to buy, alot of the time at least. EA are pushy and like to release games before they're finished but loads of people buy them anyway. I try to deal with EA as little as possible but I used to think BF2 was a pretty cool game, and considering it gets planes, tanks and infantry into one game I guess it is, just PR is a much better version of it and I'd have rather given my money to Black Sand then stupid new version of Fifa football every month EA.

By the way, Black Sand seem to have a Huey model for EoD2, how come it's not being used?

Well I've got 3 weeks of vacation left, and no serious plans, was thinking about attempting it maybe :S

I personally enjoy riding in and flying the Merlin. It's got great handling and the sounds are very realistic. Personally, I wouldn't mind the addition of a .50cal in the right crew door or facing out the back ramp.

A friend of mine also suggested a Mark-19 Grenade Launcher but I'm not sure if Merlins can actually be equipped with that. All I found when I searched was that there are optional gun positions through removable windows, the starboard cargo door and the port crew door.

Its more like months then weeks afaik, you should read the guides and rules for making the model before you put any effort in. You could make the best model in the world over 3 weeks of hard work then find out it was over spec for the pr engine

The merlin looks like it was revised some, more windows/visibility

choppers are too hard for a first model

I've played maybe one round without the bug, it was a very good chopper from my knowledge. It handles better than the black hawk, I was a master pilot that night. But something has to be done about the skipping bug, please I beg you.

Yeah because of that bug i always stay away from the Merlin. It is nice looking though.
