i am wondering what you guys think is more important, view distance or settings. i think view distance is way better then settings, cus i would rather have kashan with a 2km view distance instead of 8xaa, high textures, ect. so tell me what you think and post what you think.

Yeah, but I already barely run the game with low/medium settings with the current view distance...

current view distances are fine, there is no point in having them bigger

edit:
oops, I thought you were recommending increasing the view distance

I play with view distance at 100% and other things at low/medium

since i play as corpsman most of the time, i would say that i wouldnt be able to take advantage of the large view distance since my ironsights limit my ability to engage longdistance targets. i still play with 100% view distance anyways

Seeing the people who can shoot at you vs seeing everything up close very, very nicely.

I'll go with being able to kill or at least notice the people who will kill me, just because it makes me feel better.

I have an 8800GT now so this poll no longer applies to me. :)

I have 2 x 8800 Ultra's running in SLI...This thread REALLY doesn't apply to me...But I voted view distance anyways. :D

I think you'd have to do a study on the quality of the average gamer's computer in order to not set the graphical bar too high- even if it was the most graphically advanced game in the world it wouldn't mean much if only a handful can play it.

Why not both ?

View distance > all. Wish there was a way to increase the character draw distance further, so you don't get the models all looking the same at long ranges.

Everything in low & 60% view distance .
So yeah Tank battles are a thing of the past for me.

But in the end view distance rather then seeing your opponents freckles is the way to go ;-)

I think we can generally say that people aren't running 8800GTs, so we kind of have to pick one, or the other.

Personally, I voted view distance. I think most of the maps have a view distance that is much too short.

I think it is probable that view distance can be increased at least somewhat on most PR maps without killing anyone. But testing is required.

I have to run vBF2 in a window at 800x600, everything low, so as to avoid lag. 100% view distance is asking too much of my system. :P But with PR, it's a must if I want to see enemies in the hills.

Had a guy today spot out two tanks right in front of me in VoIP, and I couldn't see them. :(

from the tests i have done with a 2km view distance on kashan the people on my server with somehwhat low end pcs said there was no or little change in fps and said they would rather have the view distance then some better textures.

I ran full view distance Basrah without problems. Will try Quinling sometime.

Perhaps every1 should post their system analysis of how well the can run BF2, Can You RUN It? (in another thread)

I want more view distance. Right now I got 100fps on all maps with all my settings on high
