Alright, the other night I joined a Kashan 24/7 server (already setting myself up for a potential noob fest) and spawned at base. Taking little notice of what was going on, I joined a squad, got a person and hopped in a tank. We went out, capped a flag and snuck around the hills, looking for a tank that had shot us. We found it, killed it, got killed by his buddy. At this point I look at the map and see this blue mass at the airport, and a few dots around the rest of the desert. I think to myself "Now, what's going on here? Why are we not moving for bunkers?" I spawn at base and receive my answer. 8 people, out of 20, were at base, with pilot kits, waiting for the vehicles. We're one hour into the game and nothing so far has raelly been accomplished. There's a few people waiting for tanks etc, but I couldn't get over the 8 effing people waiting for air assets. 1 at the LB, 3 at the Blackhawks, 2 at the F-16 and 2 at the A-10.
Now, this is bad enough, when almost half the team are doing NOTHING AT ALL FOR THE TEAM, but it gets even worse. These vehicles all spawn in at roughly the same time as each other (I'm sure they were crashed in close vicinity the last time they were up...) and me and a squad member get in one of the blackhawks. He and the other blackhawk lift off, we go to bunkers, land, the other BH is killed, but ours drops us and runs. This now leaves 3 people waiting for the 16, 2 for the A-10 and 1 for the LB. The LB spawns, and the pilot roams A-G1 for about 30 mins before getting shot down, the usual. The A-10 spawns (there's the usual "I WAS HERE FIRST OMG!!!! GIMME GIMME GIMME!" between the two people waiting) and within TWO MINUTES, a 20 MINUTE ASSET is lost, accompanied by "OMG!!11!!!11 WTF HAPPENED? I GOT THE BEEPY AND I HIT COUNTERMEASURE BUT I GO BOOM ANYWAY? OMG!" Then of course all these people die, grab their pilot kits and wait again.
Does anyone else despite the idiots who have no idea how to play as a team, or fly so not only is the round ruined, but those of us who can fly, can't? Does anyone else this should be a kickable offense?

i havent flown yet in PR, but it definately looks like a lot of fun and most poeple play computer games for fun.
plus PR does lack a training program that teaches you everything. the guide/manual could be more descriptive. sure theres the kashan desert training map, but i bet alot of ppl dont know it exists. so atm for a lot of ppl, the only way to learn how to fly is by trying it out in a game.

They should download the Kashan Training Map and practice their flying skills offline. I'm also interested in flying - but no way I would take a jet or chopper online with my skills at the moment. It would give my team a huge disadvantage.
I haven't really experienced the problem on PR but it sounds almost like playing the original BF2. Thank god someone told me about PR. But clearly people have different opinions about the matter.
EDIT: However, it's not sure people are aware of the Kashan Traning Map. I accidentally found it on the forums.
Kashan is the place to find the best and worst pilots.
I remember some dude, for reasons known unto only himself, had taken all the choppers and put them on the far side of the runway to the spawn area....
He even scratched the paintwork- intolerable.
+ LOL @ mine, gota love that vid

I'm a well rounded pilot to be honest, I enjoy transporting guys around. But really ticks me off is calling in an e-vac and have freaking 3 tanks and aa's all around you sitting in the mountains waiting to shoot at something.
So I no longer go in with balls to the wall, I make them run to a safe LZ for e-vac. So next time when you call in for a ride, be a bit more generous and mention the nice big Tank/AA sitting on the side of the mountain, we'd appreciate it. So we can then ride the outskirts of the map and attempt to pick you up.
Oh and dont blast the mini guns for whenever you please, it's annoying.
Hey, things tick pilots off too, okay?

I love, how people still think, the beep warning means someone is locking onto them, when the missile is 0.14 seconds away from their ***.

Simplify,
worse than that, 2 or 3 times before when I was playing the very same map, not only where a bunch of people waiting for air assets (while the minority was going for flags), but they were teamkilling each other for them as well. And whenever someone finally managed to get a hold of any aircraft or chopper, the next minute they crashed. How immature is that?
I say, if they need to practice, they should do it offline.

And some people still think hitting CM once will do the trick
@Stardust, the guys I was talking about were close to it. Some guy named Mr.T was shot down after making no kills, so he sat and waited for the A-10 again. When another guy got in, he says (all caps, of course) "OMG WTF?????? I WUZ THAR FURST GIVE ME THE JET!" I'd imagine this was accompanied by him firing his pistol at the cockpit, but I wasn't at the base when it happened (imagine that, I was capping flags! what a novel idea for some people ) Luckily the guy who managed to save the A-10 from the smacktard was good, he lasted around 45 mins and made something like 30 kills.

*sigh* I miss the days before the taxi engine was implemented, when they would come screaming out of the hangar full tilt, straight across the runway, and crash into the perimeter wall.. always gave me a good laugh

This is ridiculous.
1) Who decides who should fly and who shouldn't? This is clearly open to abuse.
2) Why should people be kicked if they aren't particularly good, that's just needlessly harsh. How did you get used to the PR flight dynamics? Plus you have to take into consideration the random lag you can get flying if you don't have a high end computer.
Clearly they should probably practise offline, but not everyone is aware they can download such a training map. There's no real excuse for not reading the manual before playing though, but complaining about the "beepy noise" isn't really a big issue.

No, I'm not beating on the people who can't fly, I'm beating on the people who sit at base with pilot kits for AT LEAST 10 minutes, waiting for a jet or chopper that they, in addition, have no idea how to fly. So they are putting their team at a disadvantage in multiple ways. 1. They are sitting at base, taking up player slots, NOT HELPING the team. 2. They potentially waste an air asset and 3. They are often TKing each other/other people and thus wasting more tickets.
Those are the kind of people I think need to be kicked. If you want to learn how to fly a jet or chopper, create a local server and run Qinling.

I totally agree its not just about how well you can fly but how well you can support your team as well, the locked pilot squads are the end to any kind of coordination between ground and air units. There are individuals who think they are the greatest pilots ever. I think, im an alright PR pilot, my issue is with the individuals COUGH COUGH LT SOUCY who think that they have exclusive rights to airplanes helicopters or whatever, but they dont. I had to sit there and argue with this individual and tell them why they were such a bad team player and why they had a -277 score. Bottom line we all have bad flying days if its your time to SUCK hand the controls to someone else and dont whine about it.

I imagine on our server, this would be construde as a breach of our rules on 2 levels:
1.) Wasting team assets
2.) Hindering the performance of the team
Though, I myself am not an Admin, so by all means please take this as my own personal oppinion. As a transport pilot myself, I do find it very annoying in such situations, and thus I usually just wait the 4-5 mins to get another kit, or suicide and roll-out with the TACTEAM squad; it is far less trouble, and more fun to do that, than wait at the landing pads to get teamkilled the moment an asset spawns; or to have it shot down because the squad requesting EVAC neglected to note the AA watching them, and refuse to run 30 meters down the hill where it is safe.
---
As for the person passing comment on "Where else can they learn to PR flight physics?"
The answer is; Kashan 16 Training, or by creating a Local Server.
I myself, a self-proclaimed vet of transport flying since BF:Vietnam joined Al Basra 0.5 when I first played PR, and took hold of the Blackhawk - Despite not having read the manual, and being scared pantless after take-off, I quickly got to grips with the new flight mechanics and haven't had a problem since.
On the other hand; I never fly attack helos, or jets - As cool as it would be to do so, I do not have the correct ability, and so I stay away from them. Why can't others do the same? Why fly if you just can't?
But as I keep saying; said fools do not read these forums, so why bother shouting about it?

I agree with a mixture of what was said above. When I first played PR I joined a server, saw the Merlin, and, having been a good pilot in vBF2, thought, "Hey, a chopper, let's go!" Hopped in, got a crew and flipped it by gunning the throttle. I didn't fly again for a while, not until I'd got advice from vets and PRACTICED IN A LOCAL SERVER.
And even now if I'm having a bad flight day, I'll admit it and say "Well, no more jets/helos for me, you guys take em "
I'm not saying you need to be a perfect pilot to play. I'm saying to need to be mature and help your team out.

It seemed like you were kinda getting at it in the original post but nevermind. The more important part of what I was saying is there's no way of resolving the problem without being a facist, and saying *name* is flying or you get kicked and there is no protocol that you can use to kick them other then that.
The only way of addressing this is for people to discuss who should fly and come to some decent conclusion, unfortunately probably not gonna happen. If there are people notorious for being self-serving with air assets then kick or ban away if you ask me, but that can apply to anything.

What does this have to do with facism??? He who pays for the server gets to make the rules. (facism would be the PR team telling the server owners how they have to run the servers)
In any event, if someone is repeatedly taking team assets and wasting them, or even worse killing people in the process, then warn them. If they don't stop, kick them. This is what admins are for.
If someone actually is a good pilot and is simply being weird/greedy about air assets, well that's a completely different issue. As long as he gives me a lift I could really care less.

It will lead to server admins deciding who flys, which means lesser pilots will never fly ever and therefore never learn how to cope in a battle environement. The Developers have mentioned on several occasions that they don't like the thought of admins having such control of the game (for example alot of commander suggestions that have been made such as admins deciding if a commander should be forced to resign etc).
Obviously servers have different rules, usually along the lines of having to join squads, or banning baseraping, but servers having a list of approved pilots and crewmen and kicking anyone other then people approved by them who try to use aircraft and armour is pretty out of line if you ask me. Unlike you there are some people that really want to fly properly and do care, but have the stupid stigma attached because some up their arse pilot who's been flying longer deems that they are wasting server slots.
Wasting assets intentionally, such as driving supply trucks then ditching them, and TKing people for assets is obviously out of line though.
