Right this is probably heavily idealistic and I'm not sure it's possible because of the way the maps are coded or whatever. But would there be any way of having some option or patch or whatever so you can modify kits, vehicles, and loadouts and that kinda stuff before an organised battle>

You could do it in a nerdy warhammer kind of fashion, with points to spend on stuff. Obviously there would be the need for overall restrictions and map based restrictions, but it seems like a cool idea to me at least. Got the idea from the prospect of having different loadouts for jets on different maps, which is gonna be cool.

Not sure whether this feature would be realistic though even if it were possible, kinda fun though and will make preparing for organised battles more interesting, especially only having a vague idea of what the enemy might have.

Sorry for not searching, not to be too arrogant but I can't imagine anyone's suggested this in this context. Also my brains too beaten from tequila and Mexican beer to do such a task.

Yes, this would be extremely cool, but this mod isn't set out to be extremely cool. It's mission is to be realistic without becoming too uncool in the process.

IRL there is a certain amount of customisation of kit, but it would be for practical reasons like "its too friggin heavy to carry in this heat"

The devs have made kits that reflect capability and practicality.

So, yes it would be fun- but better leave customisable kits to COD4 and 2142.

It would be fun, but quite challenging to set up. Save it for the bigger games.

The idea's not about any form of placeable asset, there's more then enough of those already, this is more about setting up available kits and vehicles for each side before an organised match.

The idea wasn't really about customising kits, more just the amount of more specialised kit's you have amongst other things.

As an example, on Qiling the British might have these options available;

Armour - Must have at least 1 Challenger 2 Tank, 3 available maximum
Kits - Have 1 extra H-AT, and 2 L-AT and 1 Anti-Air rifleman available
Jet's - 2 Eurofighters, fully customisable loadout

So before a battle both commanders would choose how to spend their resources, for the sake of an example, the commander could choose to spend 8 points on 2 additional H-AT kits instead of 10 on an extra challenger and use them to ambush enemy armour rather then engaging in tank battles. (the number of points were just an example and not very balanced)

Also it would be very useful for aircraft inparticular, say for example you had 2 CAS aircraft on a map. You could have 1 fitted with a large amount of rockets and dumb bombs for clearing infantry and light armour and another fitted with a large amount of laser guided missles and bombs to take on heavier targets.

I don't think that this would be a good idea for public games personally because it might be rather difficult to implement and could ruin alot of games even if it were.

Don't know about the realism of this idea though so could do with one of the military buffs getting a word in, do commanders choose what kind of equipment they need/want in this kind of way, or is it more whatevers available then making officers choose between equipment?

Yeah I don't know the exact logistics of how the maps work, wasn't too sure if you had to have a new .zip to have a different version of a map. Perhaps it could work on a per map basis having a modded map for each individual battle depending on how difficult this might be in comparison to the thing you suggested.

He's not asking for it to be useable in public games, this a specific variant of PR for organized matches, such as those of the PRT.

Whatever makes it work to be honest, if it'd doable to mod the loadout of harrier or whatever in game, and it'll work in public games then fair enough. I dpubt either of those can or will pan out though.

I wouldn't dream of asking someone to mod maps for every ROUND if you were playing more then 1, just clan and tourney matches that are long enough to justify it (3-4 hours sometimes).

not sure if im getting everything here, anyways i think a clanmatch mode should be added. To be used during matches tournaments etc.

personally i think this should be an even more challanging type of gamemode that requires even more teamwork.

Basically being able to modify ALL your teams resources within certain overall restraints and restrains based on maps.

Say for example you have a tactic on a tournament game where you want your infantry to avoid anti-armour combat at all costs, what you would do is request that your CAS aircraft dumps it's rocket pods and goes for more laser guided missiles at the cost of a H-AT kit or 2.

Or if your playing Fools road and want to use alot more ambush tactics then usual and stay mobiles, you could dump a few APCs/IFVs/whatever and have more L-AT/H-AT kits and more light transport vehicles.

There's pretty much endless possibilities but the restrictions are.

1) Having to assign every kit, weapons loadout and vehicle a points value.
2) Having to work out restrictions for each map.
3) Modding map files when you have decided what kits etc you want, probably easier for the kits side of things, dunno if there's set spawn points for vehicles and whether that limits things or not.
4) Developers having to potentially babysit tournaments.
5) Whether it would be an accuratish portrayal of how armies distribute their resources according to commanders needs and battlefield restrictions.

I was just wondering if it was feasible/realistic (although bobs posted without saying it's not so it's probably ok ), I wasn't demanding that it be added this instant. I know that what you have at the start of the map is what your stuck with for the game too. Just seems like the developers would probably want you to have their permission before playing modified maps online.
