Why the "extra" zoom on iron-sight RPG?

I asked this in another thread and got no real feedback.. So I took the liberty and created a thread dedicated to this issue.
One thing I don't understand is why they added the extra zoom on the RPG iron sight? Is it hardcoded or a balance implement? (Same as on the AT-4 iron sight)
And just to save you some time, please compare the difference on the screen.
As you can see it’s a
BIG difference. And I think it’s a bit unfair to the APCs and Challenger.
Can a Dev please give some input on this situation? Why make a new iron-sight model when you use it like a scoped one.

here is the real question, why is there zoom on iron sights at all?

Some people say that the small iron-sight zoom simulates "Eye focus". In my own opinion I like "no" zoom at all, just like in Red orchestra. But that’s my own opinion, and who am I to know better. But the extra zoom on RPG iron-sights feels just brainless.

Because in real life, when you're aiming through iron sights, you're looking at real things. In game, you're looking at clumps of pixels.

I can understand a 1.5x magnification on iron sights to simulate enhanced concentration and visual focus, as well as compensate for lack of detail on a screen that would be better focused in real life. 1.5x is minimal for a game, but improves gameplay balance slightly. But what I'm seeing in the screenshot above is a serious issue.

I’m surprised nobody mentioned this before; I noticed it first time using RPG in 0.7.

Humm ... the only thing I see in that pic is a very nervous palm tree asking itself "What the hell did I do ?"

relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax! Katarn is stoopid so when he imported the RPG-7 he overlooked the zoom factor. This has been known since the release and has been fixed for the patch.
As far as normal iron sights go, zoom factor has been discussed a lot. There's barely any zoom on iron sights at the moment, but there has to be something to compensate for the fact that we're limited by the games resolution. Armed Assault went a little over-board with this in my opinion, their iron sights have 4x zoom on them.

No palm trees were harmed during the making of this example; you got my word

Thanks for your input, feels good that this was just by mistake.. But I still wonder how the beta testers missed it? (Maybe you need to replace some of your old testers J/K)
