Dont Civis look too much like insurgents?

Its a bit frustrating when im holding my fire to see if that guy im looking at is a civilian or an insurgent. I look at him, he looks at me.... then i see a white flash and end up with an rpg in my mouth... If i was outside, i would pull out my binoculars, but from a vehicle or tank or whatnot you really cannot tell the difference.... Graphics card i have are beautiful, im running SLI mode with two Gforce 8600's and i have pentium 4 chip, not the best but it dies its job. So now in order to run some maps well i need to tune my graphics a bit to a good workable point, but it messes up with the whole civilian thing... Can i ask if it will be possible to perhaps do a lil skin workaround with the civilians. On Albrashar civilians are getting absolutely slaughtered. No civilian survives, they have no point, for the british its as if they dont care, but its because they cant see... That red turbine only shows up at a freakin distance thats close, but them RPGs will fire from a loooong distance away, making it really weird....

Ok what i mean is this. Youre in an APC, and u got ur eyes on a guy. He looks like insurgent but youre not sure so u keep ur aim on him but dont fire till he comes closer. Now the guy just fires an RPG and it kills u because he can touch u at that distance, but ur still wondering what the heck happened and why...

I feel a skin workaround will let the british know not to fire on civilians. The noobs still dont get it that they are waiting 2 minutes to spawn because they just killed a civilian, and they dont have mics and they never read the text.... The experienced players will still kill civis just cuz of that skin problem.

sorry for the long rant.

but let me know what you think...

wouldnt it help to really set the civilians role if people stop actually killing them?

Same thing happens in real life too. Sometimes soldiers can't pick out hostiles because they blend in to the civilian population. I think it's fine, way better than the bright green shirts.

Insurgents are civis with guns. the skin reflects that.

I'm totally for a more distinguishable civilian. The ones right now are decent but at a distance (and sometimes up close), they sometimes look too much like Insurgents.

Many players are saying to use your binoculars/armored vehicle zoom to see if the subject is holding a firearm/rpg or not, but at long distances, items that are held in your hands are not viewable.

I'm not saying dressing civilians in BRIGHT GREEN SHIRTS is realistic, but this would compensate for the fact that in real life, to determine a civilian from a militant would simply be using binoculars to see if they're holding a firearm, which at the moment, isn't possible at medium/long ranges in PR.

Ok in .6 you people were belligerent as to why the civilians looked so stupid and why they didn't resemble the guys on the insurgent side. Now that they look similar to insurgents you people are once again complaining. In reality you can't always distinguish between an armed individual and an innocent bystander in the heat of battle. That's why it's your responsibility to check before you pull the trigger. Don't just aim and shot, this isn't Counter Strike or Call of Duty 4, you're given weapons, but if you’ve chosen PR then you have also chosen teamwork and reality as your platform so it's your responsibility to have a shy trigger for the sake of your team and the person on the other end of the gun.

Maybe it is just my game, but the insurgents look like civies from a range. Only when they get so close does the kit pop up on them and the gun appears. Increasing the kit/gun draw distance would make this better.

It's supposed to be that way, and I like the challenge personally. It gives the Insurgents a realistic advantage. Having trouble distinguishing a civilian from an insurgent, go by the old rule. As in don't fire unless fired upon. In the case of Al Basrah, the Brits have a ranged advantage with optics available on their firearms. So it's unlikely an Insurgents taking the initial shot from a distance is going to kill you (especially with the new deviation system). And at close quarters, identifying a hostile Insurgent from a civilian shouldn't be difficult.

Also... shooting a civilian isn't something that should be looked upon as some sort of imbalance or bug. If you shoot a civilian, o well, you made a mistake, move on. It happens in real life too, and I imagine often times by accident.

It's like the argument for giving the opposing team a more distinguishable camouflage pattern... I mean seriously, do you think it's that easy to identify a friend from for at a distance? Should we have Red & Blue teams? Same applies for the Insurgents and civilians. Do your best to identify the target, and determine whether the individual in question is considered a threat. To be plain and simple, don't be so trigger-happy.

i believe the issue is in your graphics settings. you need to turn up your detail to see the weapons in their hands.

I honestly HATED the old civi skins (no offence devs) and I think these are 10 times better then the old ones, more realistic if you think about it. Because honestly, have you ever seen a iraqi civi on CNN or the news and he was wearing a bright green shirt, jogging pants and bright red nikes?

dude, but the problem is that i LOVE looking before shooting but u still CANT distinguish between them. That is a problem. ONLY with binoculars does it really show hostiles from civis. But on armored vehicles at a long distance they are almost identical. And u think that at a long distance it wouldnt matter, but it does, because ppl still use the RPGs from a long distance away accurately. That becomes a problem. Because of this all the civilians are being killed, ruining the point of a civilian. I literally wait on the APC with my zoomed vision to see if that stupid red hat will just appear marking him a target. Aii dios mio, its a pain in the butt... I get blown up so many times because of this. Im just gonna start gunnign down everything, i dont care, its pointless to wait if i cant identify anything.

PS my graphic settings are good, its a problem at medium to long distances.

Civilians don't run around trying to get killed in reality...

ok... the new skins are more realistic

BUT

at 200 hundred meters it is impossible to distinguish the difference between a insurgent shooting at you and a civi. sometimes there will be a group of insurgents with civis in the middle. they will be shooting at you and when you return fire, you kill a civilian. unless the devs find a way to make guns not disappear at 100 meters or so, then there has to be a way to tell the difference.

Agree with that...normally insurgents are using the civs as back-up for dont getting attacked by choppers/tanks. Then the news will be all over that the Infidels has killed alot of children and women again.
So i like it this way, its hard to see if it is a civ or not!

just like clypp said can't tell till they shoot at you. and there aint enough penalty for killing a civi my team shoots civis without any regrets and I dont see any loss for killing em which sucks
