Switching ammo type with fire mode?

For weapons that only have one rate of fire (shotguns, SKS, etc.), or even others, is it possible to switch the types of rounds fired with the fire mode selector, reducing the impact on that kit's equipment footprint?

For example, for the USMC Officer kit, you would be able to switch between normal semi-auto and burst-fire modes, but also cycle through to a tracer magazine that is activated when you hit the reload button. Using this system, it might even be possible to switch to a smaller number of tracer magazines (what officer has 16 mags on his chest?).

For the shotgun, it would simply involve changing the fire mode number from 1 to B, in this case. When the fire mode is changed, the B changes to an S, for slugshot, and the player presses the reload button to load the new rounds into the chamber.

Unrealistic, because in real life you need to unload your shotgun to switch ammo type.

The shotgun only class is it too then, because they need to carry 2 hotguns then or the switchtime is much to less too then to be realistic as well....

(just my opinion)

Automatic rifle would go but that wouldnt effect any gameplay so far i think.

In real life, you wouldn't carry two shotguns with two different types of ammo, either. It would be beneficial to remove part of that excessive unload/reload time, for gameplay's sake. This would just lighten the load of a shotgun class, and make it that much easier to apply tracers to a target.

Not possible. That's the reason for the 2 shotguns.
