(HARDCODING) How about the DEV Team Make there complete new Game Based on BF2

OK here it is, the DEV teams who are just great at what they do and I compliment them on a fantastic job. (Even if they poms) hehe sorry Aussie joke there wink …

Why stop at PR and hardcode , its time to think differently, why not get all your people together, and if need be hire invite what ever, to get programmers and create your own totally new game from the ground up.

You could add in all the requests that have been asked on the forums and end up doing something that no other gaming developers have done before, is listen to what the public wants and create a game that will be more popular than any other game.

Like to hear others thoughts on this, I can go on for ages but everyone gets the gist.

Image sniper movement like in Call of Duty 4 modern warfare, hand singles, assisting fallen comrades, dragging them to safety so the medic can work on him vital to forward movement, voice SL to SL. Comms for pilots to SL to Commanders, looking around corners, the look of our soldiers even more military looking. Crysis engine !!!!
Just to mention a few.
So guys lets make our own game and not have to say HARDCODED EVER AGAIN LOL heheheheeee

Thanks guys keep put the good work.

Well, you could say that a lot of the [R-DEV]'s and [R-CON]'s are building portfolios through the modding of PR that will enable them (through current education or previous) to gain employment within certain fields of work such as working for games producers, sound companies, computer programming jobs.

If they are to make their own games, be assured it will most likely be when they sign contracts with already existing companies, or set up their own house companies!

To spend time creating their own game now would require large funding, time and business skills. To get a staff large enough to perform this task is not within the PR staff abilities. Please see Requem's blog on games production requirements.

BF2, I believe, is the only game capable of providing the PR experience without becoming too complicated or boring. Battlefield 2 is/was an excellent game that was hobbled by its creators and made very difficult to improve upon, but I don't think any custom engine could capture the fun gameplay of the current PR in quite the same way.

Thanks for your reply, I understand what your saying. It would so exciting to be involved in something like that. I hope all you guys find something your looking for and I hope something like this will come out of it.
Its just great to see you guys getting together like this and making something we all love. A real military interactive game that makes me really feel like Iam there.
I hope its sooner than later before Iam to old to see the screen hehehehehe

Cant believe though there’s no Australian setup, knowing we have a relationship with the old country :P our SAS are better anyways :P hehehehehe

Also something that’s different than the main game developers is that I can actually talk to DEV TEAM members and they reply back and they have even been part of the squad I was in, your like rock stars heheehe can I have your autograph :) hehehe

thanks again . Peace.

yeah as Mr D said making a completely new game is extremely hard. They would have to make a new engine, which would probably mean like 2-3 years of developement. Not to mention how much skill is required to make a completely new engine. The other option would be to buy a licence for a game engine. This option would end up costing unbelieavable amounts of money. Don't know how much the licences cost but I'm guessing $200 000+ if we are talking about a modern engine.

There is an Aussie forces mod out there. There were talks to incorporate into PR to benefit both parties but it never came about for various reasons.

Oh we will keep trying...yes we will.

Reply to OP:
The call of duty 4 analogy is a bad one =\

You ask alot of the devs, 'make a whole game without the assets of a big game developer like EA'? MrD is right that they would probably only attempt this as part of a games developer.

I'd say its more sensible to keep going as we are, and later on there might be a game with the engine to support what we want and a PR mod can be brought to bear on that.

to crate a engine from scratch we would need to "hire" loads of network coders etc who knew about that stuff, I dont have a clue here hehe.

Thou we could always buy a engine like the Unreal 3 engine or something and work off that, but still, that alone would cost a hell of alot of money.

Yeah, Unreal 3 Engine can cost $750,000 if IGN has its info correct.

Lets face it, unless the DEV's want to be up to their heads in debt, they better make a game that suits to the MAJORITY of the people. Meaning it won't be PR, because alot of people don't even want realism. So what will end up happening? It will either force the Dev's to make their own PR mod on the side, after they just made their own game.

Money > Fun says the business man.

Not only would you hemorrhage money with something like the Unreal Engine, like I said before, you would be spending all that money and hiring all those people to emulate the unique gameplay that only the BF2 engine, and consequently PR, could provide.

The DC team went this route and made a resource sucking monster with the unreal engine.
