Lack of Friendly Mine "Skulls"

Think this bug came along with 0.7.
The random friendly mine/C4/ied in general lack warning-skulls in the 3d-map.

Have also experienced IEDs visible to most but not to all, as a graphics-bug.

- "Can't you see that mine right in front of you??"
- "Øh. No..?"

but imho there shouldn't be 3D markers in the first place :twisted:

I once came in to a round and was told by my SL to spawn as engineer to clear out a few AT mines. I ran around saying "Where? Where??"

He and the squad got ticked and thought I was incompetent. He laid a move marker right on it, still couldnt find it. I started to thinkI was an idiot. He stood right over it and I still couldnt see it. Then, I held down the LMB and he said it was working... I couldnt see anything, but I cleared out two or three mines.

I wonder if it sometimes has to do with joining a map mid-game? Not all cases, but that might cause it some of the time...

Havent had it where someone placed it and I couldnt see it though[when I was already on the server] That I know about at least...

Well about the "skulls warning" not appearing... some people turn the 3D map off by mistake and that may be an explanation but not seeing the mine itself on the ground that's new to me...

Nah headhunter, it's different. I had it on the desert storm map, and in 0.7 I've seen it on Qwai river. There is literally no mine model. Nothing. It is invisible, friendly or enemy. It makes you look like an absolute retard when you run over one in the middle of an open road like I did... my squad was like WADDAF*** retard... and ARGH so annoying because it was not there.

^ Very hard too confirm the missing mine-model..
Alltough i've run over enemy mines i could SWEAR was not there, that's not something to build a case on.
But i've been on the turret, yelling "mine" and some of the member not able to see the model at all. Just like Okita describes. Very... pesky. But rare.

The missing warning on friendly though i've confirmed several times.
And i've played this game long enought to know it's not about toggle the 3d-map. Like yesterday i dropped C4 on OGT, and no matter how many times i spammed ALT i could not get the warning.

I did :o ops: The spelling error and structure was bugging me and I thought this made it easier to understand[I only came to this thread because I wanted to know what it was about :) ]. PM me if you want it changed to something better, but I thought this fit.

I just figured Adding the "Mine" part would help n00bs like me, and it was spelled 'sculls.' ;) Dont consider it censorship, call it Okita being a perfectionist, if only for 5 minutes :)

BUT, back on topic: I really have no idea why they dont show up on that rare occasion. Talking about both 3d hud and ingame world. Is there a limit to the amount of mines? i want to say no because I once saw a OGT picture with like 50 mines on the bridge...

I meant a max number in one map[just like there's a max number of destructible objects that can be placed in a map]. Like, if a max number of mines total is placed, will they stop showing? But yeah, I dont think this is the problem...

You mean like 1024 interactable objects max out the map? Dunno if mines comes under that count, or if there's some resembling system for those. But to me it sound more like a bug then limitations.

I remember one of the DEVs saying something about this. He said that if you join the game after the mine had been placed, it won't show up for you.

This might not be the same thing your on about but, Sometimes I can't see mines.
Once on Fools road we saw a few mines on bridge, so we got engy in to clear it and we saw a few more at the end, we cleared them, although... at one time i saw the engineer get up and prone again, only to start 'Repairing' an invsible mine!!! his wrench was twisting plain air.

Then I was really confused, not sure if we could go or not... Then the enginner pulled back making me think it was clear. I was wrong. After we blew up Engineer was saying "there was one left!"

I don't get it, all was looking clear (from my view of the gunners seat in warrior) and where the bridge meets the terrain there was absouloutly no mines visible (100% positive), we drove over and boom!?

Then I got a bystander in the squad saying "Yeh, I didnt see those mines either", the SL argued and told us there was just 1 left.
Like the mines had been hidden just beneath the surface or something... Weird.

There some places on maps where you can place a mine and it wont be visible. It just droping into the ground or static of the bridge. But its not vissible to everyone not only to some.

And about the skulls... I encountered this problem as well. Sometimes when I place a mine than a C4 few meters(and I MEAN meters like 10, 15 25 not on top of another) away just one skull is vissible either the mine's or C4's...

It never happened.. wait... it was something like this on Zatar. We were in a tank and we wanted to drive threw the barbedwire there was no mine under it but as soos as we were on it we blew into pieces. Every1 was "what happened what was that" and we figured out that we just missed that mine that had to be there.

So... there might be a problem...

Mines aren't supposed to be visual at all... ;)

But i have only encountered that friendly mines dont get a skull...

3d map for red skulls greatly reduced in distance... like down to 15-10bf2 meters which is very small, if ur in a vechile you are most likely driving too fast and the red skull vanishs underneath you....

Today we had round in mestia where my squadmember did no see nothing where I saw mine and that red skull mark.'
Also it is annoying in Al Basrah when chopper sound just wont disappear.
