Plotting an LZ...

This post was started since it was off topic from where I got the idea.....Signal flares Thread.

It was suggested that if a squad leader needed a helo extraction that he should pop a smoke and an icon should appear on the map where the LZ was needed.

I thought a better idea and more realistic, would be to have the SL pull out his map, and click the location where they need pick-up...at least that would symbolize to a degree, the utilization of a GPS equipt battlefield computer.

It would also leave room for error...error by design...SLs would have to pay attention to their maps vs. their current position so that they didnt place an LZ in a poor area.
This too is also quite real world.

We already have this...

as SL, hold T, select "need extraction", your avatar should now say "need transport" over the radio and a LZ without a letter will show up at your position on the map.

Image this is the extraction marker that will show up on the map.

and you'll find the "need extraction" request in the upper left corner of the T rose.

you also have your green signal smoke in slot 9, so you can use that too if you feel like it.

lol CP, thank you for some sense. Although I will say, it's a bit challenging to realize it actually works.

I know its currently in game....but how realistic is it for an infantry SL to get on the radio and just say..."Pick-up needed"...and then an omniscient commander or helo pilot knows exactly where to go?
Is it because the words "pick-up needed" are magic words?
No.
I think there needs to be more designation involved instead of having the t-rose do the work.
In reality a SL would have to pull out a map or a GPS, look at his current position, and then have to decide based on that info where the LZ should be requested.
Am I making sense here?
