Kicking in Doors

I got inspired by the following on the main page:
Question: Are you planning on making more buildings where players can garrison troops? Are you planning on making more destructible buildings?
Answer: As far as enterable buildings...I have it from a good source (me) that there will be alot alot alot of enterable buildings in the next release.. One map in particular will have nearly a 100 percent enterable buildings.. players should be able to hide anywhere their little hearts desire..

As for destructibles. we have a fixed limit of 1024 objects which can contain network information per each level in bf2, so that is our fixed limit.
Amazing! - But I am wondering how the entrances will be? Do we get doors that we can open? Probably that doesn't work because of the limited battlefield engine.

But we could able to kick into doors!. Now we have to use slams, cars, granades or C4 to get through those hallways that are blocked by wooden planks. Why don't we use a second attack button on the knife? It will give (if somebody can create that ofcourse) an animation of somebody kicking which can be use offensive on other (enemy) players and able to destroy and kick trough those doors. I find it unrealistic to use grenades or other powerfull equipment just to get trough a set of wooden planks.

About the offensive use of "kicking" on other players shouldn't be powerfull as the knife itself. Would it be possible to make the enemy who you kick to get dizzy and disable him for 1.5sec? EDIT: if this is not possible, the kicking should be only & can only be used to kick in doors.

Hope you guys like the idea.

would require new animations.
So it's probably not going to happen.

New animations would be perfect. But it is not needed. We still arrest civilians by knifing them.

so what do you plan will be a place holder for kicking in a door?

Well. I was talking about the perfect situation in my first post. But I think a knife could do the job too? Bit unrealistic but it is better then wasting c4, nades or a slams on it.

The point what I want to make here is if it is possible to create doors & a way to get in. Wouldn't be exiting to "kick" trough a door without knowing what is behind there. Every house could be an objective and a potential danger. You are creating more fun in a smaller area.
(ofcourse you could look trough a window, but people can hide in the second store & not all building need to have a window)

In most situations there is a guy pointing at you with his machinegun... so no, it's not exiting, it's just stupid to kick out the door and standing in front of them at the same time. I prefer to throw frag grenade through the window and then kick the door :D

The whole kicking thing as a weapon would have to take up space in the weapon slots as it is a "weapon" thus taking up what is probably much needed space for a shovel or something. (Unless we get a kit with a shotgun that happens to be labeled CQB or something like that). And if it was a secondary fire, it would take away the iron sights view. In conclusion, worth a look, but not a priority.

And if the door lacks a window next to it, then what? Knock first?

Listen to this man!!

It would be good to be able to destroy a door with a knife to simulate kicking it in, or something along those lines.

Frontline soldier: Commander we need Sappers up on the frontline we've come across a blockade the squad cannot move. Need C4

Commanding Officer: Wilco Squad, What's the situation?

Frontline Soldier: Sir We're held up by a large Two by Four and some MDF... No way around it...

I think you get it :P I agree on this one whether it be kicking in doors or whatever, tis tiresome needing large explosives to take out something I could do with a pair of pliers.

Someone suggested adding a shotgun to a kit... Is there a way a Breaching shotgun can be added to the ammo rifleman? Something that is pretty ineffective against infantry but could blow open a door at short range

Well, in order to do this, we need two simple things:

The ability to kick
And DOORS.

But other than that we're good.

/sarcasm

But to be serious, breaching probably is possible, but kicking in doors isn't really feasibly. Also, much less likely to be kicking in most doors than using sledgehammer/shotgun/explosives. We've got 1 of those, and could pretty easily create that other.

What about like the door in the tunnel? just speed up its opening time.

Walk up to door press E, Door flings open as you've "kicked" it

God that sounds like it'd look so pants Rofl

It would make more sense if you could open doors with the "enter" key.

Well since this seems kinda fantasy for the moment.

Make doors vehicles that you enter and if you had the animators have him stand beside the 'Door' like a stacked up breaching position. And you can click to open it or push a button much like the Merlin and the co-pilot. Would only work on a small scale I suppose but it would mean you could both open the door or destroy it as it is a vehicle and you could close it behind you to setup ambushes behind it.

Though animators aren't here and doors aren't here. So I'd say step by step people. Get the rest done.

It doesn't seem fantasy to me. Special forces expasion introduced the "switch", which could be used to work elevators and open doors. All one had to do was stand near it and press "e". The PR mod could easily use this to open doors.

I didn't knew about this. It is indeed a way to open doors. We just need a door and thats it no? What I already said. The animation of kicking trough a door is not needed but would be perfect.

Didnt any of you at least tried FH2?
On the map El Alamein you have a construction house where you have to go to a bunker to cap a flag. To reach that bunker you have to open doors with E. All those doors just open normally. Cant we use those doors for houses and buildings?
