I am a server admin on the "v.7 [AFG] Noob Practice Server." The idea of my server is to attempt to put noobs, of the #2 MOTY 2007, through a boot camp of sorts, hopefully making a successful sell to any new-comers of the MOTY (I think I'll just keep using the acronym...only because I forgot to vote and it really should have been the MOTY). Selling this Mod is by no means, easy. I have consistently tried and failed to get every single person in [AFG] (or All Fair Games) to install the Mod. Excuses range from " I have to download two files!?!" to "Why the hell do I have to request a kit!?!" and pretty soon it will be, "Couldn't they get it right the first time. Not only to I have to spend an entire night downloading the damn thing, but now I have to download something more!?!" (Just keep this in mind whilst concocting a new strategy for delivery and/or gameplay). Fortunately enough, there are some people who can wrap there heads around the closest thing to an efficient bureaucracy since lines at the post office (Oh I gotta pee, but I gotta get my stamps.CURSE THIS DASTARDLY LABYRINTH!!!).

Besides attempting to sell the mod, the other half of the battle is retention of players. And that is what my noob server is all about. I try to make an environment in which noobs can screw up and then learn, and then eventually become bonafied PR squad members/leaders or even competent commanders.

Therefore I must propose at least three items:

1st: Would you please Talk to the Guys over at BF2CC, and work out all the kinks. Its bad enough trying to yell at noobs to READ THE EFFING MANUAL!!! because they cant read the Scrolling Rules, let alone trying to apply a change in the server without CC bitching that the max time is too long.

# 2: Seeing as I'm dealing with NOOBS would you please make some code involving the ability to reduce vehicular spawn time (sounds like a charge being brought against a drunk driver)in BF2CC. Also, Comething in the game setting selector would be nice, you know : gpm_cq, gpm_counter, gpm_insurgency, and finally gpm_OH_GOD_THE_NOOBS_ARE_COMING_!!! And in that color. Make all the corners rounded and padded, put training wheels on the tanks, and on the back of their helmets emblazon the words "Caution: Noobs at Play" in very special colors.

And Finally #3: If you do not wish to make any changes to your wonderful code in regards to the noob game setting, or changing spawn times, or even about CC bitching about the incorrect time, would you please work with CC to allow total control of vehicles in-game. I dont mean RC, I mean, "We're playing this clan on sunday, seeing as its only 4 on 4, lets make it interesting. Mig's and F-16's only, and lets change the ticket ratio to 50 ticks per side." Granted you don't want us to change the code to even put free camera on to spy on suspected hackers/cheaters/idiotic-non-noobs, for exactly the same reason the [AFG] admins need free camera, can you PUH LEEZE!!! work with me here to get a little more server control integrated into CC

Just a few encouraging closing words: Remember that nothing good has ever been born in our minds that we didn't encourage and while you guys are ruminating the subject keep in mind one word: retention.
