idea for supported fire

So, 2 ideas, but really about the same subject.

how about making it so that automatic riflemen can deploy a bipod when near a low wall, or in prone position, or near a bunker, or a window, so as to provide accurate supressive fire

the same could apply for riflemen, not deploying a bipod, but just resting their rifles on a wall or bunker or window so as to be able to easily place shots.

Since there is a max of 1024 networkable objects that isn't really an option.

This is probably the FIRST suggestion PR ever had. I think the closest thing we ever had to a solution was simply making two weapons sharing ammo -- one could only be fired prone (bipod out), the other could be fired without going prone (bipod in) but you see the issues with this already.

Not hardcoded.

Entirely possible to make a deployable "vehicle"/static. It's already been done in the modding community.

well nedlands says that you can mag link a handheld gun, rhino says that it will give the gun extra mags, so if they get past some of the issues it would work fine. it is possible to make it look likem you can rest your gun on a window but the window would need to be a vehicle and that would cause a huge amount of lag.

Sure, thats possible for a few locations, but buggy, very limited and still a re-suggestion.

Rhino says a lot of things. I tried to find these "extra mags" and "issues" but with no avail. I suspect that Rhino was thinking I was using a particular maglink function(which has the "extra mag" problem as well as other "issues") when in fact I was using another. No coders have told me that it doesn't work either. In fact I've been getting a few requests for it.

If you set it up as a vehicle you could include the ducking feature I suppose. May need some new animations I believe. Come to think of it, the cupola positions on the AA allow you to use player weapon but you can't duck. Maybe it is hardcoded in that respect.

On a limited basis, such as only bunkers and firebases, it would be possible. But to have all of, say, Al Basrah, set up so you can use windows to rest your weapon isn't possible.

The issue is that each window must be its own vehicle, or I suppose each building could be part of a vehicle, but the larger you make the vehicle the more "teleporting" is possible, which would be extremely annoying. Equipping all windows on a map with these would take up a buttload of the max objects.

But if it were to be implemented, I imagine you could use the same crouch feature found in the vehicle MGs/mounted LMGs with little problem.

Anyhow, this IS a resuggestion, the search button is your friend baptist_christian.
