If there is no commander as it’s not that attractive teams struggle!

Thing is the commander position when I’ve gone commander basically as no one else wants to the squads respond better, they can see there might be a plan for example sending squad three on the attack while squad one moves into a holding position besides the flag and squad two back up to squad three.
At times there are too many flags.
If there is no commander as it’s not that attractive teams struggle to defend. If there was a few more options added to the commander then more might play.
As commander you’re more or less blind, Get the J-dam ( looks great does little) once if your lucky if anyone else knows how to ask for it.
I’d think adding commander abilities would help.
I’d love to be able to talk - ask just one member in a squad were to go, right now it’s the whole squad that get the message. I know its a squad leaders job.
Wish we could order in artillery blind that was not too accurate.
Wish we could order in large smoke screens just once or twice.
I’d like a field hospital tent were you can get patched up.
What ever happened to the air drop.
A cluster bomb as well.
But don’t give them right away to the commander make sure they server there time! First.
Have to say best server right now is that Tactics & Teamwork one if you can get on...

According to the Xfire chat log, the DEV team plans on adding in more commander assets to make the commanders job more exciting and beneficial.
Air drop is now done by actual in-game pilots, and is much more accurate and effective, imho.
I think the amount of flags is ok, its just when a squad doesnt stay and defend one and then you play whack-a-mole for 2 hours.
You talk to the SL and he is supposed to relay it down to individual soldiers in his squad. I dont think Patton called up individuals and told them to take up a position in that tree over there
To sum it up, the commander is getting more assets to work with in the future and I think you'll be more or less pleased with the outcome

Good to read! To be fair I’ve mastered how to be commander, well the best you can be. But I always feel ok I can ask squads to do stuff but that’s about it, you feel like your not adding much to the game. Although I never fancied the drone in the Vanilla game as it game away to much I’d love a compromise maybe an actual commander option to fly a drone even if its slow, just a forward looking radar to broadcast Vehicles etc but certainly not personnel In an organised server its fine but there few and far between.
I feel over all once the j-dam is used its best just to leave being commander. The onus has to be on not just adding to the commander options but making sure there not dependant on others. It can take all game to get someone to help finish off that fire base, they might all have shovels but not many help out.
Then my other gripe is no one is going Commander so I go it, Bang your hit with Vote’s to kick commander. Even got to the stage when I’ve asked why and got the response idiot responses most of the time. Think most just like to Vote!
In the Tactics and Teamwork server they understand the Value, I’m not asking squads to defend or attack for no reason.

As you say servers like T&T are good for commanding because every1 joins to play as a team. But I disagree with you that the commander isn't very effective, if your SLs are good and provide periodical sitreps you as the commander can give essential intel to particular squads.
And I thought you can talk to one squad at a time? Says so in the guide.
In the commander screen, select the squad and press B instead of V?

On the right server it makes a huge difference, you can actually win the round, help players get into the fight even help rescue squads by sending back up like tanks to cover them. Commander and a good server (player wise) can be devastating.
But most of the time it’s a one way street, I’d just like a few more options to help out and prove the worth of the commander.
Guess we will know when they have cracked it when there is a queue of players trying to go commander as right now you’d think it was getting the plague!

commander is so much fun to play these days - although the dependence on others to build your stuff can be a bit testing at times. But more assets is definitely the way to go - placable tank obstacles, placable mine fields, armed bunkers/firebases, placable TOWs/ AAM sites ...
