is this possible? (deviation = sway animation)

ok... first off i love the new weapon deviation. BUT it is a little hard to tell if your 'settled in' or not.

the devs have said that weapon sway is possible from an animation standpoint, but not from a practical standpoint.

would it be possible to add the sway animation while your deviation is high, and then have your gun settle down when the deviation goes away?

thanks for any clarification

In my mind, the most straightforward way to do this is to have the 'reticle sway' animation when walking with the scope up, to lag for a second. What I mean is that with every movement, the 'sway' animation will continue to be active for one second even though you have stopped pressing the wasd keys. So moving = reticle sway by default, stopping = reticle sway for a further one second before it settles. Sounds simple - I await a code-monkey to jump in and say that DICE made function animations are hardcoded

Possible it is possible, but a animator is needed.

I guess it'd give you a visual model, but if its not timed exactly to when your deviation stop... thenits gonna be off and even MORE people will complain, you know?

In that case, it might just be better to tell people to count to a certain number...

Like said though, would need an animation, are you gonna do it? ;)

if we are supposedly going to have this (which i thinks a great idea) we probably need it asap so we can ru it through testing and get it perfected (not in using it, but getting timing right  )

there are already sway animations in bf2 but they look a little wonky :p

it would be useful because right now it's hard to tell whether your aim is swinging all over the shop or whether you're relaxed and focused for a shot.

Would add a bit of feel, even if the animations didn't correspong exactly with where the gun was aiming, just so you know when you're *Roughly* settled in

This would be great. I somehow managed to miss a PLA man in a van with his back to me with my scoped M16 about 5m away, thought I had waited long enough to settle. Needless to say his heavy machinegun let me know how he felt about me shooting at him. :(

Or we could just eliminate the arbitrary deviation system all together :)

I'd love to see a sway of the weapon in game, adds atmosphere is realistically relevant and brings a useful gameplay aspect to the game.

imo, there needs to be some kind of indicator, counting 1.33 seconds seems retarded.

Why not make the settle time match the animation instead of the other way around?

I know this, man. I was responding to someone who said the ani wouldn't match the time to settle.

I figure there might be some animators hiding out in the community mod section.
