I agree....it is so unrealistic for example, to have a humvee slide parralel across the tread from firing a mounted 50cal.

I've seen handbreakes for some vehicles in BF2:Apocalypse mod, but it was used only for tighter turns.

I do beleive the OP means for a handbrake just to stop the vehicle sliding

not to start it sliding lol
I think something along these lines has been suggested before (the sliding APCs are a well known issue)
I don't know what hardcoding brick walls face you but there may be a way around them (turning off the engine? something like that)
Anyhow still good idea

Not too sure if this is hardcoded or not, but any way to keep things stable on a half degree slope would be excellent.

I'm kinda doubtful whether it won't be hard-coded, but I can so see myself pulling some awesome donuts with the .50 gunner blazing away...or just standing still.

In the future all terrain is coated with a thin film of oil and all tires are made from teflon. Hence sliding of vehicles is correctly portrayed in the game...
I'm kidding. I hate the slide. I want a parking brake also.

i think you might be able to alter the traction capabilities of each vehicle. for instance a quad bike has more traction then that PLA car (i've never seen a quad bike drift in game) anyways thats just an example... probs wrong but my point is some vehicles handle better then others and im thinking there might be a traction option or how much the vehicle is affected by the road? so maybe when there is no driver which means the engine is off the cars traction increases which allows it to stay still while moving, i say this because if the driver is in the car he/she can adjust the car while the gunner is shooting so it is not needed as much. if you catch my drift...........pun intended

Yesterday my CR2 was sliding... up the hill. I dont know if parking brake would change anything.

I can't see it being hardcoded, surely it's a case of programming 'Press <key> and your car will STOP' 'Press again and it will start'
Kinda like a toggle - You can use it on hills, and to do tight turns!

I'm sure I've heard the sound of a handbrake being activated on a landy when it stopped which got me all excited. But, alas, just a sound.

I like it but why not just press "S". It slows you down engough that you should be able to hit most of your targets.

Well, obviously a button that when pressed alternates between making the vehicle have standard weight or double weight would be handy. Even catch people out trying to drive away with it on.
We'd have a whole host of new players asking why their vehicles engine sound gets louder but they don't move off

The problem is being STATIONARY, you cant stop perfectly on a hill without the vehicle sliding. This undesired effect means that most vehicles slide sideways if parked at 90 degrees on a 2% slope which is unlikely considering the size of some of the tires on said vehicles.

Not so obviously mate. I'm not sure if this would fix the problem or make it worse. The amount that a vehicle slides down a slope should depend on a few things. Traction, mass and yes wieght. More wieght would surely cause more sliding down slopes? Gravity tends to pull things downwards.
