PR needs some sort of mandatory training system

like, you have to train in single player mode or in a training-dedicated server. Im really tired of all these noobs complaining when they die because they have no idea how to play PRM

and it would also help with noobs stealing vehicles and dying instantly, or stealing choppers and crashing them only a few seconds after take-off

Sorry mate... noobs are hardcoded

Back on topic...

Even if there would be some kind of single-player training system they would probably skip it like they do with the manual. I'm not sure if mandatory SP training system is possible...

Unfortunately, whilst you could train people to request kits, give them all sorts of guidance on working in squads, ultimately there is another level which can't be reached by a proportion of gamers and that primarily is about controlling team level combat and predictions in the same manner as playing chess requires.

It would be nice if there were some of the "new player" tips that pop up based on context.

How about making it so you can't play mutliplayer until you've done Basic training (with more advanced options availble for later)

You could have bots running in formation and show newbies where they can fit in :D ooooo and how to respond under fire! ooo and suppressing fire tutorials!!!! ARRGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PEOPLE MIGHT ACTUALLY LEARN HOW TO USE LASER GUIDED BOMBS!?!?

*Dorkgasm*

I think noobs would put more work into circumventing that, than theyd ever put into reading a manual.

But those context sensitive tips, that BF2 had would at least be a start.

I can already imagine those guys...
- Oh, Yeah I've got PR installed, now I can PWN all the PR-NOOBS
- OMG-WTF-LOL! What's that? training? I don't need training! I'm BF2 1337 HAXOR PWNZ3RR.
- Why I can't go on-line and PWN PPL WITH MY UBER LEET 5NIP3R 5KILZZZ? Why do I need to finish some NOOBish training, first the manual I've deleted and now this piece of ****... This mod is for NOOOOBS! Stupid mod! Uninstall (klick)!
...And here goes another unwanted personality in PR. That would be the greatest noob-filter ever :D

There is only one thing worse than a noob, and that is a person who calls other players a noob. With war, famine and diseases like HIV in the world, in perspective, new players joining a server and making a few mistakes is the least of our troubles. Everyone has to start somewhere and we were all new to PR and other games at one point. Helping people online is a lot more constructive than making yet another "noob bashing" thread. Do we want to scare players off to the point that new players will not play PR anymore and the mod dies? Give people a break, its only a game....a very good game yes, but only a game.

For me, there are two types of new players, Noobs and Newbies.

I like Newbies, they're new, they act mature, they want to learn. That makes them better than Noobs.

For me Noobs are arrogant and inmature like: OMG, I WILL PWN YOU WITH MY LEET 5P3C OP5 SKILLZZ!!!1111oneoneone, AND THEN I WILL PUT MY BALLS ON YOUR CHIN.... TEA BAGGED!!!111oneoneone.
I don't like that kind of people.

BTW. I hope you've noticed, my previous post wasn't serious at all (that's why I used smileys) :D

Uh seems like your taking this both too seriously and too personally, plus I don't think war, famine and HIV is that big a deal for most people who can afford to play bf2. The noobs being described, can also be described as ********, and no one likes ********.

Perhaps the training mode could make use of the bf2 voiceover ****, but only active in the training map or w/e. Hopefully giving more useful advice than "To fire press the fire button".

Anyway, to any devs (specifically Afterdune) are we getting the new menu?

No not at all. The whole point of my post being that it is only a game and others are taking it too seriously by bad mouthing new players to the game just because they are not 100% sure what they are doing. I read the manual after trying the game once and I still struggled for a few days. Lets face it PR is not a pick up and play sort of game and all I am saying is give new players a chance, help them out if they ask questions and do not resort to the name calling ect that all games seem to degenerate into. I have been on a lot of servers where if a player asks a question they are bombarded with "ffs read the manual noob" or worse. I do agree that some people come onto a server to team kill or disrupt the game and yes, those are the type of players we dont want in any game.

For anyone playing PR for the first time I recommend watching the training videos that are posted on YouTube as they helped me a lot when I first started playing.

I definitely wouldn't mind having a training system implemented in the game. I've only played a few PR matches and I've read the manual and watched a several part training video on YouTube, but I'm still a little wary to try out vehicles, aircrafts and limited kits (unless the SL tells me to take a specific one). I just don't want to mess up and be labeled as a noob. The first time I got a kit to drive a tank, I forgot to pick it up with G.. then died when I got in the tank :| . Repetition usually helps teach the basics. I'm probably going to try to find an empty server to give those things a go, but I think a training mode would definitely benefit people who truly want to learn how to play effectively.

Training would be okay. MANDATORY training would be foolish, and would simply make it harder for people to get into PR.

Training is going on a pub server, finding a squad, and working together to crush the other team. Lather, rinse, repeat.
