[Request] Animator for Visual Weapon Sway

I figured this would be the best area to locate an Animator for this idea. Jaymz sent the forum monkies out to find one, so I figured i'd start here.
SethLive! Came up with the idea of having the weapon sway more when devation is higher, and less when devation is lower. This would allow the player to understand when his weapon has settled.
If anyone has any experience doing animations, look here and tell us what you think:

It's worth a shot. There are some really talented people working on community mods.

I find it hard to believe that an animator is lurking in our forums, and still remains totally oblivious to the fact that we need him/her
but thanks for the thread

well if we make a animation and then make the bullet come out of the gun, the gun would move, so it would be 100% like it should be, not just the screen moving. just need to fix the problem of the bullet taking 2 diffrent paths.

Make the bullet come out of the gun? The problem in the BF2 engine is thats impossible. The bullet comes out of the center of the players screen, take a look at FH2, the gun sways side to side, but its purely visual... shoot, and the bullet goes out the center of the screen
That is, if I understood you correctly...

My zeroing efforts rely on the bullet
not coming out of the centre screen. "ObjectTemplate.FireCameraInDof 0" does the trick. The CommandDescription.xls description of it is, "Use for hand fire arms. Fire the projectile from the center of the crosshair as opposed to the center of the weapon model." Therefore theoretically if you can make the centre of the weapon's model sway, the result will not just be visual.

News to me, didnt understand all that, but if it gets some sort of weapon sway that works, Im all for it!
Id always heard non-center shooting was impossible based on the engine... I find it odd that its all a matter of switching that to 0 and adding in gun movement... How could anyone previous to now miss something like that?

Will… I've been working on learning how to. What you think I'd stop at modeling? I know that at the moment what PR really needs is an animator so I figured with my pointless knowledge in various different modeling programs other than 3D Studio Max such as CINIMA 4D, and AutoCAD I could add another additional skill and learn how to animate. Plus I suck at skinning so might as well head towards another path.
Don't look at me though I'm learning and at the moment I’m no good since I don't have much time for learning stuff these days with other ocupations in hand.

Sights are located where the barrel is by default. One will notice it if they relocate the barrel (

i have a question are 1p and 3p animations diffrent, would the gun be in a slightly diffrent position in 3p? i think that the animation is the thing causing the bullet to take 2 diffrent paths, so if the 1p and 3p animations get changed so the gun is in the same place for both this will work.

Animations are the rarest things in BF2.If you're willing to learn and have some previous experiecne I say go for it!

We just need him for a project or two. This is the one area that is REALLY hurting in PR...I wonder if we could even make a new prone animation that isn't so instant.

I have a bit of experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks (actually thats part of what I do for a living), but no time avail. unfortunatly... RL pawns all.

Making the actual sway animation should be easy.
However learning the exporting, getting it in game etc. procedures is what takes some time.
