First past the post (ironsights reskin)

I downloaded FH2 the other day, and was impressed, although I like the PR2 has a much more... unique... gameplay balance. However, one of the major things I noticed was how well the iron-sights on the bolt-action rifles were skinned. The "posts" are really really narrow, meaning you can crack off decent long-range shots even though the zoom's not so crash hot.
Now, I KNOW reskins generally result in a "yah, get photoshop, do it yourself" style response, but this isn't purely cosmetic. ATM I avoid iron-sights like the plague because the post obscures too much of your kill-zone so it's too hard to fire-fight accurately vs scopes. Narrowing the post would really help this, and the consequent improvement to iron-sights kits may in turn help with the take-up of the non-scoped kits (ammo-pack rifleman, etc).

... so don't do it.

I don't, which is why I usually place relatively high on the scoreboard and my squad doesn't get ammo resupplies, repairs or medical care. Scopes FTW.
Now, back to my post which I believe outlined reasons why it would be a good idea...

Solution: Players should stop looking for score and chose the kit their SL wants them to have.
Since people are not that intelligent, its up to the squad leaders, they can kick the people.

If you have a kit without an optic, it's because that kit really shouldn't be directly in the fight. Medics should really never have their rifle out, engineers are so effective against vehicles that giving them an optic would be overkill, and so on for the other classes.
And the ironsights can be just as effective as the optics, if you practice with them and know when NOT to duke it out.

Indeed, some kits just aren't meant to be able to take on a scoped rifleman in a straight fight. And ironsights or not, the AR kit is still ownage

The new M16A4 with iron sights is exceptionally good IMO. The front post is set at a particular width so that it is the width of a man(~19") at 150m just like in real life (

all the PR-created rifles have much narrower/better front sight posts than the bf2 ones, but do all PR-created rifles have accurately-proportioned posts like the new M16A4?
never held or seen a L85 in my life, but one would think the front sight post would seem fatter than the M16's because of compactness of the weapon...

its not very fat IRL probably slightly fatter than the M16A4 but its hard to compare real 3D sights to 2D game sights

I'd never demand someone goes medic. Considering the high lethality and limited lifespan of players in PR, not to mention the likelihood of them being killed outright, or their corpses getting grenaded, taking would-be defribulators out too, and the likelihood of the corpse being exposed, you may as well ditch the medic and take someone with a scope instead of having a gimped squaddie taking up a slot. Same goes for ammo-carrier rifleman.
This will only be more pronounced when the SRs / marksmanship rifles are fixed in the patch and the iron-sights kits are even MORE crippled...

The older sight wasn't even an SKS sight, it was the default AK101 sight from nilla

I've honestly been a medic with great effect on the hymong moutain map. THough it sucks when your team is a bunch of idiots, standing on a hill watching mgs blast away at them while your sitting behind a tree, you have to ask the Sl if you have to go heal those idiots On of the mods know what I'm talking about

I've spent many a map as a medic, keeping my squad alive and fighting for 3 or 4 deaths. Medics are force multipliers, and while you lose one rifle, you gain back dozens of lives if you have a good medic. There's a reason medics often end up with such high scores. Flag capping + lots of revives + lots of healing = lots of points + victory from many tickets.
The iron sights rifles are in for a reason: Classes that have them are specialized for other things, and shouldn't be acting like riflemen.
