IED timer for insurgents/merlin glitch/squadbug

I remember there being a timer for IEDs, a sort of activation time? 10 seconds or so, was this changed? I can detonate right away, apparently this is common knowledge, but i re read the manual last time and it was still on (activation time). Something up?
PS i have noticed that now twice in a row when battlearena experiences squad bug the merlin flies beautifully, no glitch waht so ever!!! Never been so happy, something to do with that perhaps? Speaking of squad bug, perhaps PR should include in the WIKI for next patch to alert ALL players to NEVER try and start a squad before the timer starts for a map to load, causing the instantaneous squad bug. I dont know, but alot of players still dont seem to know about that little info. Creates really nasty Tking at albrashar airport among nooby players who cant get a ride.

Oh my... Yep, that i think is the primary or only reason why the squad bug happens. The squad bug is when the British cannot create any squads, or you see only one squad and you cannot create your own, happens very very often, and its due to people trying to start a squad BEFORE the TIMER of the map actually starts counting down from 3 minutes. This should be made as public knowledge to other players since people are still doing it, it ruins the whole point of the game.

Afaik, the timer was NOT for the IEDs, but only for C4. Didnt think it was ever in use for IEDs.
