Is there any way for the community off spring mods that have developed in the community modding section to be added into the main stream part of the PR mod? I'd honestly like to see PR releases with KFOR and Russian Federation.


Honestly I'm not sure if anyone has suggested this before, it just came to mind and I got excited about the idea of it.

What do you think?

i think that's the hole idea IIRC, there are community because the DEVs don't have enough time to add em all.

Thats the plan, hopefully.

The idea is that, if the factions developed by the community meet the standard of quality in PR, they will be incorporated by the Devs into the main mod (i think).

Anyhow, the goal is that they become part of PR, although PR is already a pretty monstrous download, I don't know if the DEVs will make it a required core part. Would be the best way, but making people download 4 gigs of files scares them.

Do what FH did, seperate it into a lot of smaller files, or put in torrent files I like torrent

As of yet, none of them are at release stage. Once they reach that far, they'll basically get assessed for inclusion. It's hoped that the quality and effort going into all of the Community factions will warrant their inclusion in PR proper.



Quick note:
When I saw the title of this thread, I wanted to reply with "Combining PR and Offspring? Easy to avoid, simply either wear a rubber, abstain or go gay. Relying on withdrawl will pretty much guarantee that you'll be combining your PR playing with looking after offspring within a year " But I figured I'd say something first, before the gratuitous pun

I don't think too many of the community mods will make it. Mod's pretty big as is.

Well I think I have an idea, release the other things as booster packs, and people can install them as they please, you have the core stuff, than if you want the SPetsnaz, you can download that, if you want israel, you install that. How about it?

Personally, I think that is much better...

Rather than having to download 3+ GB of stuff at once... Even with Torrent, it took me an hour or two to get .7

At least three files:
Core
Maps
SF maps and things (not that it will be made... but this counts as "extra")

I was hoping this would involve combining PR with the offsprings music xD
anyways...Id rather just get everything at once, but if making "booster packs" is easier that'd be fine

Couple hours of downloading comparing to couple months of great fun.... I would download PR even if it was 5 GB file.

The down side to them being "booster packs" lies in server-side files. What servers are going to run it? If I have not installed any boosters, and servers are running booster material, I'll get disconnected, etc.

Now, I'm not having this problem because I am downloading all of the ones that get finished.

file size shouldn't matter. Most likely everyone who is playing pr (except for maybe the single player guys) has a broadband connection. 3gb isn't much, 5gb isn't much, hell even 10gb isn't that much. And this is coming from a guy who has a 1mbit connection (probably slower than the majority of you)

All you need to do is leave the computer on when you go to sleep + when you go to work/school and even a 10gb file will be downloaded in a few days. All it takes is a little patience.

Thats correct. Be patient.

And even if you cant download it Im sure that someone can burn it on the DVD and send it to you if you pay the postal fee. Its not a problem at all.
