Like what I see a lot, but I have noticed that the large maps take forever for one side to win, and it seems that many players leave before the map is over - in a weird way creating an artificial surge from team to team. Is this by design or byproduct?

also how on earth did this mod lose out to INSMod for mod of the year?

Insurgency mod is ****, always was, and likely always will be.

And long maps are the heart of PR.

Well, HL2 mod community is tenfolds the size of BF2 Mod Community, that's probably a big reason.

But back on topic... I remember back in the days when a round was 30-45 minutes max, now they go on for literally one or two hours (Kashan). Though that's pretty unique for a game and if you have the time to play through a long battle, its quite fun.

However, now it is getting to the point where you can't really pick up and have a quick round of PR anymore, because if you join midway chances are you ain't going to get in a good squad and it take forever for something "exiting" happens or to get organized.

Maybe there should be some consideration put into making the rounds slightly shorter, but by all means keep the enormous maps, they are great.

The rounds are a little long. It would be nice to be able to finish an entire map in one sitting with mainly the same squadmates. Shorter pls.

i would not want to change the maps they are great - but yes tonight i played for 2.5 hours and played 2 maps. For players trying to kill an hour it seems like a deterrent to play, as with some of the larger maps it takes 20+ minutes to get that first capture point or establish the first base.

Is there a server time limit vs round limit?
would it be a bad thing to have the map end on a time limit and display a win/loss score?

Every map has a 16 and 32 player version, but it's always up to the server to run them.

I played a Qwai River a week ago, that itself took 2.5 hours. I liked it pretty much too, the longer the maps are, the more strategical it is. On the contrary I saw 20 minute Kashan map, that blowed (I was on the losing side). Anyway I have a feeling that this is just the way the DEVs want it to be, so don't expect any change in it. City maps are faster, expect a couple to come! Hurry up Rhino, I want to screw around in Muttrah City! :)

I think 90 mins is best and 2 hours tops. Anything over that and its more a case of stamina then skill.
I'd like to see bleed points for holding 60% of the flags, otherwise its all about KDR

Yeah one and a half hour of gaming in one sitting sounds good... Don't know about y'all but 2 hours of straight gaming in one sitting is a little too much unless you've got a LOT of time to kill.
