What do you think the MEC "nation" is like?

Based on real-life information and ingame plot-lines, what do you think the Middle Eastern Coalition is like as a country?

I personally think that the MEC is a Pan-Arab nation with a modest economy, advanced technology, and an unradical religious viewpoint. I also believe that the MEC's main centers of government would be located somewhere in Iran.

Based on the Middle-East today, Iran can be considered the "powerhouse". While they might not have the best economy in the Middle-East, they have a stable one, and they are technologically up-to-date, both in their military and otherwise. That thinking is what leads me to believe that, should a nation such as the MEC form, the government centers would be located somewhere in Iran. As for the government itself, I would only assume that it would be some form of democracy-authoritan government, kind of like what we see in Iran and Iraq.

Economically wise, the MEC obviously have a reasonably stable economy, as they are pumping out all of these military weapons, and are able to purchase military technology and the such as well. I would only assume that they recieve alot of profits from all of the oil supplies in the Middle-East.

Socially, I think that the MEC is relaxed on the strict Islamic rule that we see in many Middle-Eastern countries today. I mean, they aren't driving "c4 jeeps" into enemy armor columns in the game of god. However, I would only guess that they have anti-Israeli sentiments. I mean, in Jabal Al-Burj, the MEC military is protecting an insurgent bomb-building factory they use to attack Israel with.

Diplomatically, they must have some ties with China, as they are both in a war against the USA/Britian/others. They also must have some diplomatic ties with Libya, as thats where the Al Kufra oilfields are, and the MEC military is defending there.

So, what do you think the MEC nation is like?

It's not a single country, it's a COALITION.

Well, I was thinking about that.....
=P

Well, if you think about it, it could be like a system of "states"..... kind of like the EU, perhaps?

it will be an interesting day when persians and arabs fight under the same banner.

as for what nation MEC most resembles, i would have to say its Iran. Iran uses the G3 (not for long) and has copious amounts of russian weaponry unlike the Saudis who purchase more than $1.1 billion in US military hardware each year and is equipped with Abrams MBTs and Eurofighters.

Well from what little I know about the respective armies of the middle eastern countries, at least Iran and Saudi Arabia are using the G3, so I guess the devs might have had those countries in mind.

to me the mec was sort of a coalition that the arab countries made after the US left iraq sometime like 2009-2012 and iraq fell into chaos. the arab countries did not want a failed state sitting smack dab in the middle of the region, a breeding ground for terrorism that was more of a threat to secular arab regimes in the area then to the US. so the arab countries formed a strong alliance, combining all of theyre oil wealth to buy top of line russian military equipment, and mec then occupied iraq and secured it. which was much easier for an arab army to do then a western army. i think if they were gonna be based anywhere, it would be riyadh saudi arabia. as for why they use G3s, im not really sure of that. maybe aks are just getting too outdated and they couldnt buy m16s from the US anymore. well anyway thats just my 2 cents.

We had, as a community project, considered making a back story about them but the devs didn't approve.

+1 for charliegrs description, fits pretty much the idea of a fictional coalition of middle-eastern countries.

What about Turkey and Pakistan? More green and forestish countries, wouldn't that mean forest skins for MEC? Well ''Awesome'' knows no limits! :)
Some interest from modders in our old crappy opfor factions would be welcome! As for now, even the only opfor *new* community model, the REAL Vodnik, is still not in the process of being implemented! :(
