Ok, I'm wondering, what has been done with the MGs to make them not be able to shoot the wings off a fly at 1000 meters? I don't want this thread closed right away with the answer is its been talked about already the devs are fixing it. I really want to know, waht has been changed to make the MGs more realistic?
Again Great Mod(when not frustrating on Kuyong Ni)

???
Currently the light machine guns ingame own everything - cqb, mid-range, even long range through sheer volume of fire
Although my main gripe with them is that they recoil upwards rather than on a horizontal plane

guys a mg will own cus it is a mg, they are big and heavy so they have little recoil and take the saw for example it has a 465mm barrel the m16 has a 508mm barrel so the saw should have just a little more deviation. when you add a huge amount of fire with all that you have a gun that will kill alot of people.

have you ever shot the wings off a fly at 1000m? with anything at all? if anything the MG's are the only things that can due to sheer volume of firepower, although the fly would also most likely be destryoed completly

i think the infantry mgs are fine. could use some more "shaky" recoil but i really hate fighting against the tank's mg. that thing is dead accurate..like a laser gun

it is mounted on a 60 ton vice and is much much more accurate irl compared to ingame what with laser range finding, IR and fire control systems you know - the only inaccuracy is that of the quality of the bullets themselves.

It's not ideal, but putting a middle range cone of fire on them would be very against the spirit of PR (one huge unrealism to remove one smaller one) and it'd rape infantry even harder since you wouldn't have to aim.

Ok, I was about 2-3 map grids away from this guy on Kyung Ni, he had a saw, I had a QBZ, he got a headshot on me, and he was just spraying and praiyng, no burst just hosing the area down. The fact that he hit me was amazing, cause I was prone and at most the top of my head was visible. THe fact he got a headshot on me was bs.

Well the MG shoots a lot of bullets fast, so it seems pretty logical to me. Keep your head down or get it blown off.
Although especially the the US saw and UK minimi you should steer clear of as enemy because they have virtually no recoil so spraying works like a charm with those.

Thinking about it, if the only part of you showing *is* your head, isn't it inevitable that if he *does* hit you, it *will* be a headshot?
The guy got lucky; he was probably trying to surpress you and was as stunned as you were when you went down.

I've always though that it was ironic that in order to shoot someone, you generally try to only expose the most fragile part of your body.
Yes, the LMGs are pretty fantastic. But if you have an optic you are already at an advantage. And when you start firing with an LMG there is a nice line of tracers to inform everyone on the battlefield of your exact location. Even up close, a smart infantryman with a rifle will at least equal one with an AR.

I toasted a whole militia squad from a fair way with the UK support kit... Did feel unfairly effective as a killing weapon, rather than a suppressive one.

YOu might say that wiht a scope I'd be better but I had no cover in the area except for some terrain features, and was up against the desertion boundary, everytime I got up I'd receive a long burst(about 50 rounds) from the gunner, add to that I had a wound from a sniper who had come up to me to pistol me, but he got shot like 10 times before he went down the hill. I than stole his L19(he stole that from one of our snipers) and tried to edge my way up the terrain just enough for me to see the gunner, and he sprayed the place down again and got a headshot.
Do you realize how much balony it is that he can snipe with a LMG while I can't snipe with a sniper? It's annoying

guys the facts dont lie, the barrel length of a mg gives it good accuracy and it is heavy so little recoil so they can shoot alot of round in a small place very fast so if you are there the probibility of getting hit is some what high. also you said he was spraying that means he wasnt trying to hit you just scare you down , but he got lucky and hit you.

Heard of smoke? Where was your squad?
This is not a problem with the LMGs, there are tactics that will allow you to beat auto-rifleman when necessary. You simply need to use them.

the saw is alittle over powerd, but other then that it is fine. mg's in real life are a problem to the opposing faction and should be in pr. Now i would just like to have the g3 to have less recoil, more accuracy, less drop (not .6 style) m16 to be less accurate on 3 round burst, and l86 to be alittle more powerful CQB, also qbz to be just tiny bit accurate.

The MG's are fairly realistic right now, long barrel, low recoil.
Also, getting into open engagements with lmg's head on should be suicide, since that is what they are for, stopping oncoming enemy infantry that tries to attack head on, and for suppressing.
Ask some German vets from WWII.
I just started playing PR again for the first time in over a month, glad to be back too. I got over my shock trauma from the .6-.7 change and love the mod again. Had a great game as an auto-rifleman on al-basra last night in a pretty good squad. Got a nice chunk of kills via-insurgents crossing roads to attack my guys.

Even though I enjoy the LMGs as they are I have to admit that the USMC/Brit LMG is the best overall in terms of accuracy and the PKM is a close second followed by the PLA in third and I would say that the MEC LMG is somewhere around thirty five in the standings slightly ahead of the Civilian insurgent rock. I hate that thing with a passion.

As for this the LMG is perfect. at the map called street?
I was able to bog down an back alley for some 25 min without trouble as long as my team mates fed me with ammo. Earned quite a few kills at idiots that think that a smoke shield stops me from shooting at them..
