Snipers getting own3d?

Hey
i LOVE the idea of RP on how you are basically forced to play with team work, but will snipers still get the chance to own from 200 metres away while covering they Team or will they have to stay with their group?
Either way doesnt really effect me, cos if im not sniping im piloting the blackhawk

Just a quick question.
Which version of PR have accurate sniper rifles? And will that version work with the latest version of BF-2?
I read about PR on a Norwegian gaming forum, and instantly thought "Wow! This sounds great!".
But I won't touch this with a 10 feet pole if the current implementation of the sniper rifles are so bad as what I've read in several threads now.

Quaoar: Thy are still balancing the weapons.
Sniper Rifles initially were godlike, due to the fact you could be bunny hopping and still maintain maximum accuracy.
In their current state, they are a tad underpowered and unaccurate.
Im sure by the next release they will have a solid balance, however, expect to see the sniper class changed to a marksmen class (more realistic based).

Hope you are right fuzzhead!
This mod looks really good. Will try ut out this weekend. But the initial reactions from reading about the changes for the sniper class had me stunned

dawdler: i agree 100%
same as the special forces class, at this point they are far from useful.
and to some extent, the engineer class is not nearly as useful as it could be.

Hmm...i have to disagree there, if your a sniper who doesnt take 5 hours to line up a headshot stood still then you own kk? Whats your fave weapon....GL?
At the moment I'm willing to accept anything as the sniper is utterly useless and hogging up a class position that could be used for something... usefull.
Again...what the hell? I usually get about the same or above high place people on the server...Snipers also lose the least tickets and get about twice the amount of kills ;d

Well.... i had plenty kills with sniper rifle and really nice points score.. u know flag defending and such...and i don't have to prone to shot right... thou in crouching position aiming is quite hard....
Everything depends on the team... how they play...
Rushing?... no place for snipers...
A lot of vehicles? AT and engineer...
Thou makeing more specialised classes will own..

Ok i finnaly got round to be able to play this mod and i am VERY impressed...im loving the new gun sounds and the removal of the crosshairs, its really cool....but i found the helicopters alot harder this time, something else to get used to i guess
The only thing im a bit worried about is the sniper accuracy...i mean, since its not fully completed yet...i understand changes are being made....let me get to the point....i joined a server and it figures that no-one was on there >_> so i thought i might aswell test to see if the sniper was different,so i shot at a wall and:-

try all 3 sniper rifles. Seems to me that the US is the only majorly broken one.

At this point, as stated before, it's a balance issue. Before you couldn't move without getting nailed by a sniper, which killed gameplay. Eventually it will be worked out so that snipers and guys doing the footwork are happy. Just need to find the balance.

yea people chill about the snipers not working i am sniper and sad that they dont work now. but they diabled them for a reason and not forever. i played it to and the sniper was way to easy to use and good. i started to get bored using it and only shoot if i had a perfect head shot.
just have fun with the other clases and put them on semi auto and get a head shot, there for some reason more acuret first shot on semi auto.
and the 50. cal was toooo cheeeep to use vs people becuse you could shoot them in the finger and they would die. (i love my 50. cal i need it back eventualy so i fell safe if i see a helicopter or hummer.)

Any way for us running private servers to "disable" the hotfix and get accurate sniper rifle?
Since sniping is what we do most of the time and we got very excited when we first heard about Project Reality.

(guys dont get me wrong, i think you are doing a great job)....i do play other clases its just i enjoy sniper the most, im not sure everyone got nailed by snipers really :/
i think MAYBE an idea whould be...makes the snipers Uber accurate but make the scope move around like in Call of duty. as much as i hate the wobbly scope thing, its better than having a sniper which is less accurate than a full auto AK47....

lol... i agree with alot of points here, one thing I though that was sort of unrealistic though, was like the only kill i had on gloryhoundz, when i still had it installed (haven't gotten round to reinstallin it yet

), was a walking snipe as i was walking out of water I went to scope and somehow got the shot. That was way too unrealistic, or I could've just had a really PWNING SHOT. lol
Also, the MEC SVD snipers are bad as is, they're less acurate than the PLA's (not sure bout USMC after ur post

), so it wouldn't be entirely fair to go the moving crosshair (which I hve previously suggested) without further tweaking the SVD to be a little more accurate.

if u read some of the other threds they have been trying to add "sway" and that is what there going to add befor puting them back in to the game. there also trying to add things like bulet drop as well.
and svd was not made to be a traditonal sniper wepon more of a sharp shoting wepon with longer range then a standard rifle. pla's is newer and made for longer shooting

ok ive read almost all of the "sniper" posts and yeah im miffed too but hey.. there has been suggestions of.. hmm lets see..
add sway, add breathing , increase accuracy steady aim buttons and countless other nerf tactics..
change one thing someones happy and another thousand aint.. so ok we all know the actual range of almost all the sniper rifles exeeds the fog and visual conflict zone you can see in game the bullet drop etc has to be factored in... (apart from the SVD wich should be using the PSO 1 type sight effective to 600m etc as a mid range "squad" weapon) so whay the heck arnt we making the simple change of actually putting in the bullet drop "as realistic" and replacing the stock scope reticule with a real one??
for example the SVD scope (PSO-1 to mk4 depending on squad choice) should have a range finder element... bottom left side of reticule to allow visual rangefinding and movment adjustment...
the M24 scope looks like it was drawn by a 5yr old with a wax crayon.. in the dark.. no way are the reticule markings accurate.. they are supposed to be a visual aide to making a shot, a person standing in front of the crosshair at different ranges is a different size... you line up the marker from center of scope on top of the head.. where his feet are on the vertical line in mill dots down gives you range and increases from the 1st dot marks up from 300m... (1st mildot down 300m 2nd 400 etc et. this then allows you to the rough range and you adjust manually by moving the sight..
Having a target at 500m and trying to headshot a target with the center of scope.. not possible.. however using the 3rd mil dot down on the vertical should give you a 500m incremement drop..( use the 3rd dot down as your aimpoint (rounds arc over range for those that done know) allowing you to "dropshot" a static target.. you then have the range for static shots.. to adjust for moving targets you use the horizontal mil dots.. so to shoot a walking target at 500m u would aim with 2 mil dots down from centre and 1 to the right or left...to allow for bullet travel time and the speed of the moving target
you dont have to nerf us snipers.. just make it realistic and give us the proper tools to do the job manually by aiming off to compensate for distance or movement.. we are here for reconnasance and helping the squad.. zotting a dug in and supported saw gunner before he can chop up your squad.. calling out armour etc for your anti armour guys.. assisting your commander
just let us do our bit as we are supposed to leave the fisticuffs to the gravel bellies
dont nerf us force the sniper noobs to learn the trade.. god if u wanna limit the amount of snipers do it by badges.. only those who have specialist sniper or above can select the sniper weapon.. like an unlock..
ill just sit back and be flamed now..

1 sniper per squad....
With 16 squads with 1 sniper in each no team would be able to win... just take armored car and go fast thru

so there is no risk ( i think ) to kill teamplay ;]
