Noob Idea....

I suggest this...

I propose the implementation of aboloshing the word "noob", "newb", "nube"
and all of its other forms in PR and in the PR forums.

Reasoning....it is overused to the point that it is no longer an insult.

Does anyone actually feel like an "old salt" by using it?

Yesterday I was witness to a fella coming into Al Basrah asking "why cant I get this kit?"..."why cant I construct a firebase?"..."why doesnt my parachute open?"

Then he proceeded to admonish a guy for killing him with the "noob-tube" grenade launcher for the 3rd time after he spawned in the same place for the 3rd time!

Surely as a community we can come up with a newer and better term.

Maybe a server kick for the use of the term "noob" and its various forms?

Noob and all spin offs are a part of the internet and gaming culture, I think its a bit ehhh to need to ban it on a forum. Especially when you arent playing. of course, I dont mind a server banning the word, thats not for me to say, and I would follow their requests.

My friends and I use it all the time at school. I remember I got royally ticked when a friend called me a noob at Starcraft. I just started playing the other day. I was sooo mad. But you know? its all in good fun, and on the internet, you either know they are joking or they arent worth your time...

I dont think the forums should have to ban typical internet words like Noob. But, of course, thats just me. MODs will however, warn people for being rude, so if someone is rude and uses the word noob, they will get warned. Its all in context.

I am not too big on other "internet slang" such as gay/fag/etc. As they are offensive terms brought into the internet[yes, i know gay isnt an offensive term in and of itself, but it IS when someone uses it in a derogatory manner], whereas noob is just a part of gaming, IMHO. Dont get too worked up over it.

Besides, I really dont see it too often on the forums. Most people dont use it when trying to get under someones skin, except Rhino[who colored "N00B" it into my map] and people in the spam thread ;)

I didnt say ban......I said abolish. LOL

I dont want to impede anyones freedom of speech.
I may not agree with what you say...but I will defend your right to say it.

It just gets old.

There were people calling one another "noobs" on the ship date of BF2142.
The servers had barely been open for a matter of hours when it was getting tossed around.
At that point, everyone playing was a noob.

So, how do we abolish over ban? :) Im actually asking, heh.

You mean like a cease fire agreement? its not banned but we all kind of agree not to use it?

Maybe you should just stop being a n00b, then you wouldnt get called one ;)

Im really kidding.
I know it gets annoying, but meh, its the internets!

A new term will come eventually, but n00b will last for an eternity. The next world will probably be more annoying and more offensive anyway... heheh

If it's not insulting anymore so why you want to abolish it?

My suggestion was to come up with something new....just to see what some of you yahoos would come up with.

It is apparent some of you are thinking too hard about this post.

I was never a n00b. I was a newb, though. I read the manual while it downloaded.

Me too but we were all PR n00bs at some point but when BF noobs come into play, people that havn't played 1942/Vietnam and aren't familiar with BF2 it's just a joke! :)

We need this word, I mean I still need this word. Only recently when i got my internets back in Jan, I had to announce to my squad. "Sorry im a bit of a .7 Squad leader N00b"

Anyhow Moonpie, If you hate Noob, just say "Your so unfamiliar with this game and are probably new to this community, Why dont you go back to school, I hate you."

n00b is soo good 'cause it summs all this up into one syllable! :D

Edit: had to DP for my 50th [safe] moonpie you newb.

Please, no more newb calling. It kills kittens.

From The Association For The Abolishment Of Newbs (tAftAoN for short).

Urban Dictionary: newbie

Urban Dictionary: n00b

Urban Dictionary: newb

basically, newbs want to learn but are just "new" to the game. n00bs are dicks who might be new, or vets, but are dicks til the end. But n00b is also, afaik, the most common form of the "insult"
