Everyone knows what im talking about, the High Explosive Anti Tank rounds...

...arnt High Explosive enough...

It doesnt burn the infantry!

I mean if i was hit by HEAT i would be OBLITERATED. I have hit guys running away in the back  and it takes two rounds to put them down.

C4 has 18 meter kill radius, make them like that, that would be an awsome amount of fire power. besides i seen them on youtube and they are very powerfull. :P

as long as we can get the locking tone removed i'm fine with having the more firepower.

Why is it an anti-tank round if you use it against inf. and have sabots.

IIRC HEAT is a WW2 era technology. I'm no tank expert, but if you use spaced armour, HEAT is much less effective.

So basically it was a good anti-tank round back in the day but know they have developed sabots.

Pretty sure that they have shaped warheads. This focuses the explosive power and should actually reduce the effectiveness of the round, against infantry, when it is strikes flat ground. People behind cover... Now that's a different story.

A HEAT round is designed to penetrate an armored surface. So if you're hiding behind something with similar characteristics to the armor of a vehicle it will probably not be good for you, and of course any large caliber explosive is going to do a good bit of damage regardless of design. Anyhow, I think at this point HEAT damage is pretty good. Perhaps a slight bit more, but it's pretty destructive already.

In Today's modern-day warfighting...

We have the best technology around, for god sakes theres a war going on right now. the governments put their back into paying the techno funds.

If you see infantry running around and your in an APC...you wanna make sure you kill him with the first shot dont you???

not just hope for the best while he gets away. besides, at this stage in the game's development, the RPGs are quite frightening to the skimmys and APCs.

I WANT PROTECTION I TELL JA! I WANT SATISFACTION!

Lets get some hardcore HEATROUNDS FOR THE APCS!!!

his equally as dead if you hit him with 2 isn't he? Also watch it when youre in one of those APCs its uber armor technology lets a .50 cal round pass through.

now on topic: The heat rounds are pretty realistic as they are they cant get more realistic with the bf2 engine IMO.

lawl. fair enough, whatever you think.

But check youtube for stuff like gunships and tanks taking out targets with Thermals, you can see visually that the explosive yield of these things are a lot higher.

Damn, i thought this was about HAT and i was leik "HAT gainst INF?! NO WAI!"
So i voted for leave them same, but i would say "THROUGH THE ROOF".

Yeah, i wanna sea HEAT rounds blast radius pass right through statics, such as House of Pain walls.

...mongol...

Those of us having used HEAT rounds in Milan missile systems know they aren't "explosive" rounds at all, but a system that jets a 3000c jet forwards, melting a one to two inch circle of tank exterior, the metal forced through bounces round the tank shredding people and then the temperature inside rises cooking everyone and if the hatches clamped shut, the turret blows clean off into the air!

Firing HEAT rounds at light armoured targets is wasteful, at infantry = totally stupid.

Now, how do HEAT rounds work nowadays in other more modern systems?

Myself and jonny were playing yesterday in an APC and i was mowing down infantry with the co-ax easier than with the HEAT rounds, now what is up with that? This is madness...
