Sunset City Counter Attack

USMC:
4x APC's
4x Humvee's (Unarmored plees :>)

PLA:
City:
1x Bunker (2x if mapper placed, in the old Offices and Appartments zone)

From Outpost:
2x Nanjing
2x AA Vehicles
1x Wasp

From Approach, 1h after "City" Counter Attack Delay:
4x APC's
<insert something nifty here>

Description:
USMC forces have moved on <city name>. Rough terrain and anti-air cover have prevented an areal assault of the city itself, a barrier between US front lines and a PLA outpost, which itself is a cover for a major road needed for US Armour movement through the region. Without air assault ability, USMC armoured infantry have moved in and routed a PLA post near a civilian gas station. Additional units have moved in, and the attack is now underway.

Dynamic: (* represents beginning game occupancy)
US:
US Main* >> City >> Outpost >> Approach(?)
PLA:
Approach* >> Outpost* >> City* >> US Main

The City is one large (max sized?) flag. Fighting will have to be fast and furious to drive the PLA out, or else the map will be a bogged down street to street fight. Regions outside the city will be useful for fire bases or rally points.

The AA units represent some of the AA units in the area denying USMC air assault. The wasp is a recon vehicle the PLA use to survey the area.

After the counter attack begins, PLA get a reinforcement of Armoured infantry in the form of APC's. They also need something nifty, but not tanks. Sadly, the PLA currently only get a few vehicles. (Maybe recon jeeps representing armoured infantry scouts?)

So anyways yeah. Kick it around and tell me what you think.

I approve this idea. It would have to be play tested, of course, to see how it works in this mode. PLA will have little time to set up defense, which is something that I like doing on Zatar. I don't think PLA should have 2 AA vehicles despite the "fluff" reason for having them present.

Overall looks good!

Hm, I don't really like the idea of one flag.

It would be impossible to cap this way I'm afraid.

I thought about something similar with more flags:

I would like to see the USMC start with gas station neutral so PLA has time to ready some defenses.

Cap order would be:
USMC:
USMC Regroup point > City entrance > Construction site OR Market > Southern Bridge (or maybe even not) > PLA city outpost

PLA:
Hold PLA city outpost, Southern Bridge, Market, Construction site
After 45(?) minutes: USMC Regroup point

And BTW: USMC Approach would not really be a flag - just a spawn point for first 5 minutes.

I think it makes no difference whether there is 1 or 100 flags as long as there's a reasonable AAS.

I had considered making it an "Upper city" and "lower city", but decided one flag for the city would make it different.

Naturally, I'd have to play test it to see if it's viable.

Jonny wrote:It does, there are larger areas to control and you cant just go through the flags but need to actually SECURE the city. You need to patrol the streets and get the enemy right out, which is very difficult and leads to flanking and not engaging being good tactics.

Also having several flags keeps it the same and hence boring.
Yes, it would be difficult, but maybe way too much.

I agree with EG - it needs a test first.

Yeah I reckon two huge flag areas would be cool, never realised there was so much map outside of the confines. I reckon it'd make a great counter attack map as long as the Chinese set themselves up quick enough, the extra flag the US have to cap will hopefully buy enough time for that.

What if:

US Army:

4x .50 HMMWV
2x CO Truck
2x TOW HMMWV
4x Bradley IFV

US has everything but PLA Approach

PLA:
4x Type 95 (20 Min Respawn)
2x T62 (15 Min Respawn)
4x WZ550 (10 Min Respawn
5x Nanjing

PLA has 45 Minutes, after which US Receives some Strykers + Abrams to push back.

That's the total opposite of what the map is supposed to be.

I have the editor, I'll be working on it this week.
