Dynamic Damage Models/Systems

Mkay so Ive been thinking, #1 the current BF damage models suck, things dont explode and just turn into a chared hunk of metal in a matter of seconds when they get taken out by and RPG, or a tank shell or mine of some sort. Id like to see realistic damage models, where if you run over a mine the tread that hit it might come off the wheels and your tank would lose mobility. Or if your tank took a direct hit from another tank there would be a hole with a charred area, and depending on where it hit would dictate A. what doesnt work and B. who dies. So if a tank shell goes right into the turret, the gunner gets hurt, as well as the turret losing movement. Or maybe your in a BH and your tail gets struck by an RPG, the tail may fall off, but your still alive(though unless your a great pilot probly not for long) and are now spinning out of control, so youd attemt to "land". That is ducks dream for damage systems, hopefull with an SDK OR if the BF2 team throws some of this stuff in there you will be able to make it happen.

Antitank mines does not necessarily need to be hit precisely with the threads of the tank. Some mines have a "sprout" sticking up aboveground about one to two feet (?) anyway, high enough above ground so that when the main body of the tank or other vehicle strikes the sprout... Beeg BadaBoom and byebye to most tanks.
About catastrophic kills and crew survivability.
KE rounds where used extensively in the Gulf War with great battlefield success. Combat experience with APFSDS rounds has shown that penetration generally causes a catastrophic interior explosion, devastating the crew compartment and often igniting stored ammunition

The reaction of KE rounds depends on the material used for the sabot. Even though the L55 on a Leo2A6 is an improved version of the cannon used on the M1A2/SEP it probably still won't do as much damage and cause an explosive reaction. Mainly due to the fact the Bundeswehr use tungsten shells vs. DU for Brittish and American tanks.
In regards to the damage model I think attention definitely needs to be paid towards damage of the turret top. Since a lot of new current and future generation AT weapons such as the Javelin or MLRS firing ATACMS with BAT submunitions will strike from above.

We still dont know anything about the damage system of bf2, but we can already presume that it will be like the bf1942 damage system. Coding different parts on a model with different HP is possible but no'one really used it, because it causes alot of lags. We just need to wait for the bf2 engine.
