Although I've been playing .7 since its release, I never really experimented with the new laser-guided CAS support feature until a few days ago. Well, I was playing on TexasTeamplayers on Qinling 64, so I decided to give it a shot.

I formed an "Air" sqaud, with me as SL on the ground. I took out a spec ops guy too, and we rode in the land rover to a distant location where enemy armor units were coming from. Two of the other guys hopped into an Apache, and the other two hopped into the Eurofighters.

To put it shortly: Wow, what have I been missing!?

After a few test runs, we soon had the hang of it. Enemy armor, vehicles, and bunkers were blown up every minute with speed and precision. I just love the look of an enemy AA vehicle when they are trying to look for the plane, yet seconds later, they find themselves the victim of a laser-guided bomb. They just don't know what hit 'em. :D

Anyways, for anyone who hasn't experienced the havoc a little guy on the ground and an enemy plane can do to an enemy team, you need to do so pronto. It's extremely fun. With VOIP, all it takes is a guy with a SOFLAM and a pilot who knows when to drop. Thanks devs for such a sweet system! Just had surgery though, so it will be a while before I get to do it again though. :(

Thanks to MARSOC Spectre-red and thepalerider for some great piloting.

whats even more amazing is that you actually found a whole squad of cooperative people to pull that off.

ye its really awesome when you get a good squad with designator etc, its really just a shame we cant make the communication etc simpler to really get all SLs in other squads designating without them being on TS or something.

but ye guys, if you aint done it yet, give it a shot and you will be really surprized at how effective your squad can be :D

I got one of those games to on tactics and teamwork, we had two cas so there was always someone up in the air. So we always had air support as we were on the break of loosing with the mec outpost taken and one apc and everything from 6-10 infantry standing around there the air squad did their job and bomb raided the outpost two times giving us the opportunity to capture it with also some support from the mec transport chopper we fought back to south bunker before I got a disconnect. It was a great round being squad leader.

Yes, I also think this is great fun (when you are not at the receiving end that is :-D )

It was even better in some games where the squad leader (sometimes me) would relay CAS requests and also contact reports of armor etc. to the commander and you would hear the commander relay them on to the other squads. It's really fun to see the ground attack planes breaking a siege or the defenses and then watch the people chat "Thx!" and run into the objective.

PR and teamwork at its best.

Get on the the Tacticalgamer server if you want great teamplay and functioning air squads, the server is heavily populated though, and full at 62/64, but you can get in if you get a supporting membership whenvever you want.

I actually was using the CAS system on kashan a few days ago. It was really cool asking the commander for an airstrike.

so here's what happen. I was a squad leader, and somehow there was a rally point still up DEEP behind enemy lines, so I knew that 1 laser guided bomb on the constructed bunker would make it easy for my squad to take the south bunker. so I ask for CAS, and the frogfoot comes in guns-ablazing.

and then he doesn't pull up

and he crashes.

and my squad was annihalated
