I can't land a jet.

Ok I was training with the kashan training minimod and I was taking the A-10 Thunderbolt II for a ride. I can take off easily and get into a good position to attack most targets but I can't land to save my life. Everytime I either end up going to fast and crashing into something at the end of the run way, land just right but swerve off the runway and smash into the sandbags, or go too slow and hit the ground a few 100 meters before the runway.
My question is how can I land? What speed should I be at, what altitude, which precaustions should I take, etc.
Please help me.

Yea I can't land either.

Well I figured out how to land but doing it is just insane. Basicly I have to have a speed of 1000 at the bottom right corner of the map and then right when I start seing the runway I need to be at an altitude of 80 and have a speed of 750 so I can drop onto the runway with a speed of 570ish.
I heard you could use afterburner on planes. Now I'm guessing if afterburner is in the game there could also be breaks (Yeah my logic is messed up) so I was wondering if afterburner and breaks are in the game what are the controls for them?

Read the manual they have instructions on it but I still can't land for $#!7.

PRACTICE - there are few ways to safely land a jet (such as basic flying in circles 1000m before the runway to reduce your speed), but the best way is to find it out on your own - this way you gain more experience, more flying hours.
Try experiencing with various speeds, distances.
good luck

Actually, with enough practice, you can land without a runway on Kashan Desert. Landing is a matter of 'attaching' yourself to your aircraft; at some point, you will intuitively feel the speed at which it will drop out of the sky, and work around that speed to ensure that the wheels touch the ground before the fuselage.
Even then, we all make mistakes; don't be too cruel to yourself after you came in 200km/s too fast and made a nice hole in the HESCO sandbag wall. There's really not much more to say - practice, get used to it, and you'll eventually become skilled at it.

well if you want to land you need to find a speed where the airplane will drop out of the air if you let off the engines but fast enough that you can still fly. for the f16 i say land at about 700-750, then when you are about 300m for the runway press s, try to make contact with the run way fast, but not too fast. then when you hit about 500 pull back and your nose should lift up and you will start to slow down very fast.

Another important thing to remember is that if you are on the ground but think you will be unable to stop before the end of the runway, get down to as lower speed as possible and bail out.
This stops the aircraft almost immediately and a thirty second respawn for you is far less of an inconvenience than a twenty minute wait for a new plane.

Do u fly with joystick or mouse? or only keyboard?
I personaly like and can only fly with keybord only. Your landing spead should be 600-500
When your 5 feet from landing pad put your thorttle down, and pull your nose up. Thats how i land. At full speed to get too 550ish u need to keep your thorttle down for 12 grid squeres

Learning how to land means , crashing for the first times. You cant be good on the beginning. Just make you you dont piss anybody while crashing them, you can go on an empty server, local network or the training minimod witch is the best IMO.

How do you know you are 1000 m before the runway? (OSrry, i'm new tot his mod), and where can the manual be found?

IMO, it's easier to land a jet in PR than in BF2. You can make a rough landing in PR while in BF2 you just crash. All you have to do is make sure when you're about 50 ft off the ground and when you're right in front of the runway, you're going about 500-700 MPH.

Start with the Eurofighter, as its the easiest to land with. I put the airspeed around 750. Keep throttle lower and add speed as neccesary with the afterburner. Then as you get better move onto the F18, then A10, then the F16.

Okay. Heres my advice.
1. HAVE A JOYSTICK!
2. When I do this, although It may not be great in combat, I slow my speed BEFORE the corner of the map to nearly 800. In combat, this won't work, but for training, try it.
3. Make a squad. But a mover marker on the beginning of the runway, where you will be touching down at(The part you hit first). Once you come around that turn position yourself so your coming directly on to that marker.
4. Kashan only - I like to just barely scrape the fence when I come in. I land right on the edge of the runway and I can't hit the back no matter what.
5. Speed - Your speed when in the turn should be maximum 1000. I like 800 or 900.
Your speed when halfway to runway - In an A-10, 700 is what I like.
Your speed when touching down - 550 I find to be a great speed.
6. Wheels and break - Once all wheels have hit the pavement, move your throttle to whatever 0 is (Frogfoot reverse thrust....). Once you have about 200 speed, pull up on the stick. This will activate your taxi brakes. It is possible to brake before this but not safe or necessary.
Thats all the input I have.
Have fun out there!
REMEMBER - MARKERS ARE THE ULTIMATE LIFESAVER!

What he said. ALSO NOTE: EVERYONE seems to have their own style/ own speed to land with. You have to learn from your mistakes. I always scream when im 50m from the runway wall and im below 730ish. I like to touchdown at about 620-630. First get comfortable landing at about 670-700 in an A-10 or Eurofighter. Then try lowering your speed to 640-660 range and land again. Once you can nail this, you should then try landing F-18/F-16. After practice, you can land like a pro. Landing is truly THE most exciting part of flying an aircraft in PR.

I can land, on most maps except, on Qingling, I have a large hill before the runway, and I can touch down, but I have to use the after burner, to get back into the air before I crash.

I have trouble on landing on Qinling as well with the tornado, but i cracked it. All you have to do is come in at 38% ish throttle but blip the afterburners for 1-2 second periods to keep your speed above 800, and dont blip as you come in for the end of the runway and reduce throttle to zero. If done right, you should come in low and have enough time to do a showoff flaring if the aircraft on the runway to come to a stop 1/2 way down the runway. But everyones different, keep practicing and you'l find yours...

Well if you have read the first post he is complaining about a10,thus no afterburners.
I land just between 850-750 you can also pull back(pitch up) to slow a little bit more(pull back=taxiing reverse) and fire your main cannon in short bursts.I am not sure about the first one but the second will definitely slow u down.
P.S:Its a lot easier to land in 0.8,because throttle responds faster.
