give rifleman optics ammo in .75 doesn't that make ironsight rifleman useless?

Fuzzhead and me had a run with the rifleman iron on mestia.... pure domination. You will appreciate it more when the urban maps come in.

More useful for CQC than the optics rifleman.

Personally, I would have given that one trip flares over the marksman.

Yeah I guess thats true but then is it possible to do it like how the eng used to have a shotty on urban maps but a rifle on others, so you would have optics on all maps except urban maps? I guess it really doesn't matter I was just wondering.

Yea I don't see why either.

Eh, just seemed like the devs wanted trip flares more often in regular squads. Personally, I think it will just further convince the new kids that it's some sort of "lite" sniper you screw with while waiting for a "real gun".

Irish:

Meh, happens with me all the time. I guess it's supposed to be realistic when bullets miraculously come around your targets and making a cheese out of enviroment, but dont even scratch the enemy. I'm not rambling about deviation system, but, cmon, sometimes you just dont have friggin' time to aim (i mean those 1.33 secs) , each second means life and death, so you bet on luck and try to get the enemy with rapid shots, but bullets just keep landing millimeters off the target and betwen his legs, almost ignoring the probability theory, and then the enemy drops on his belly and bang, headshot, you dead.

Yeah i know, i'm a noob and cant handle a rifle, but i cant help but ramble.

imo, there should never be a question of obselete or not. Both classes should be the same and you chose one based on range or no range... like some have said, iron sights own. espec. w/ the new iron sights..

Use more descriptive Titles too from now on, youve been here long enough.

Well i think this is a very odd move... the rifleman without optics has no optics obviously AND higher deviation.

Personally I'm good with iron-sights, but I'm better with optics and using 'firing from the hip' in close quarters, which i find very effective.

Ammo should be cherished... it sounds like we are going back to ammo/nade/ammo/smoke spamming again. Endless ammo. Real shame.

We have ammo in 2 unlimited kits, trucks, jeeps, transport choppers, Bunkers & Firebases....this seems way too much and a regression to previous problems of spam.

I'll be making MASSIVE smoke clouds again... one of my favourite pastimes. ;)

Nice exploit, causing my fps to sink through the ground :)

pkm rant-

the thing was.. i was prone.. on a hill... firing at them. i'm not talking l33tpwnzor prone diving skills either. i'm talking i crawled up.. waited 5 seconds and then opened up on them. they were only about a 100m away also.. like.. on the other side of the road and a little up a hill. it just made me wonder a bit cause PKM back in .7 was pretty amazing.

I noticed I couldn't get any hits with the PKM as well, at about 100m.

The likelihood of me taking the non-optic rifleman has dropped to 0. If I'm going to lose my optics, I'd rather lose my grenades too and go medic. Maybe it's just me, but seems like any real reward for losing the optics is gone now.

With regard to the "unlimited ammo" thing Tommy - I kinda agree, but I'm pretty sure we won't see it as bad as in 0.6, simply because the APCs and light vehicles need to actually drop something off rather than just be nearby. You also can't get ammo off wrecks.

All in all, sensible teams will have access to ammo, poor teams without co-ordination won't.

I choose irons over optics in urban situations.

Well, with how piss poor grenades function now, nade spamming will probably not work out like it used to.

They work okay, already been killed by 'em twice. Just don't run and lob them, crouch for a moment and then hurl them.

Wasn't so long ago that British troops were forbidden to throw grenades because of the risk of friendly fire; troops were instructed only ever to post them into trenches, vehicles or bunkers. (Ask MrD).
