Hey guys - just downloaded 0.75. Not many servers updated yet and not many players around, but a couple of first impressions of Operation Archer, which Im sure people will add to.
I was able to spawn at militias flag even though I was on US team. Is this a bug?
C4'ed a car - building next to it blew up but not a scratch on the car.
The orange trees and orangey corn dont look quite right.
Swimming pool at the Mosque? Maybe home cinema in the basement for 0.8
Other than that it looks pretty good and I cant wait to play it on a full server!
Also I CTD after about 15mins acouple of times, but this is probably a problem at my end.

If the car was blue and "new" looking, it's a static object.
EDIT: I really need to play this map online tonight D:

Yeah it was a blue car. And yes there is a spawn bug.
Ive played for a bit now on full servers and this map is cool. Lots of action and the spawn time is great ( Whys it not shorter on other maps - the run back is enough of deterent for ticket wasting )
All the rounds Ive played on, the US have totally raped the insurgents. It may equal out a bit once people get used to it, but so far seems a little one sided. Will the compounds up on the mountains be opened up in future releases?

Well, the standoff between insurgent sq and us squad on open ground will most likely get insurgent squad wiped off. Yesterday I played archer for 2 hours - and we won since USMC ran out of tickets. During whole match, they managed only to destroy 6 weapon caches total... most likely because they didn't try to find them - most of the time they only tried to hunt down insurgents.
I'll bet most of the whine about this map is concerning about insurgent players saying "boohoo, USMC has optics and we don't".
Spread out, hide, ambush.
But I admit that if the USMC side does not even try to find the caches and insurgents keep swarming against them, the gameplay will be shit :<
I hope dev's get canucks finished soon.

The combat dynamics for insurgents should be thus:
USMC moving into a quiet area. The insurgents are STFU during this time.
A **** load of lead flys through the air. USMC guys go down. Pre-placed IED's go off.
Quiet. The insurgents have already gone, using the explosions and molotovs to hide their retreat.

I would love to see team playing like this! <3

I played OP Archer on a 16 player map with almost 64 players, that's only the biggest destrayeble village on the map then. Little crowded at first but you can have awesome firefights in there that's for sure. Ticketbleed didn't work properly though.

You sure it's a swimming pool? There's alot of water infront of the Taj Mahal but they aren't gonna be holding the aquatic section of the 2016 Olympics there

i actually had a great round on Archer yesterday.
Me and my squad, were moving from the north into the city. Running from shack house to shack house because we were catching some major lead. our Sniper up top was relaying back to us where targets were, or if we were clear to move.
I kid you not, once we got into the actual city it was like freakin Fallujah or Ramadi or something, cause it was straight house to house combat. I remember being on the top floor with my saw and having to fire at the building next to us with 3+ insurgents while my Rifleman on the ground move into the building. My heart was racing cause man i have never had that much fun.
I walked up the stairs of this one building after tossing a nade through the window to see 3 insurgents and a cache. My saw made short work of them. went back down and with my team behind me we kept moving through the city. Only thing that killed us, was when we got a little split up cause we were getting hit from 2 sides. People started running for cover, only to open themselves up for attack from another side. i was in a building on the second floor when an RPG hit, causing me to drop down to the first floor, only to look face to face with an insurgent who then subsequently had a better reaction time and unloaded on me with this AK.
I swear to you, best round of PR i've ever had in my life.
Then there's the time i got to fly a huey and extract a team at the poppy fields west of the city when they were catching some major flak from AK's and a Technical. Got in there, skidded to a stop (man do i love skids now), they hopped in, and we pulled out. This map is wild.

Yes, somebody gets it! that is the only way for the insurgents to win on this map.

me too!

they are open now

you need to be resourcefull (engineer kits, paths?, and air insertions are several ways to the top)
The orange trees and orangey corn dont look quite right.
perhaps, I liked them

hmmm... yes. i'll think about it

thank you, comments like that make the many hours working on this map worth it. It was a bit of a gamble with Archer as it is a little unorthodox from other maps. Thankfully, fuzz, rhino, iron-taxi, NEO and teh DVB'ers, katarn, and eggman had the patience to critique and provide meaningful feedback.
That being said, I have more work to do to figure out the crashing and I do appreciate the servers who give it play-time despite its unstable state

I had a pretty awesome round on it too just now. We had cleared a cache north of that Insurgent base in the NE when a Huey flew in to resupply us and drop off reinforcements. All of a sudden, an RPG hits it, two guys fly out, but the Huey survives, so we can get our ammo.
On to the base itself, insurgents all over the place, but we manage to get the cache and clear an LZ south of the bunker. Huey comes in to pick us up, but it has to wait for way too long because the SL got taken down right before it arrived. SL jumps in, we take off, I notice some hostiles, pilot evades, RPG misses us by an inch...then some frantic fighting around the village, where I managed to make some good use of the AT kit. I love it :d

Yeah I was in that round too. Very good flying by the Huey.

This is probably my favorite map in PR, but when are the crash issues going to be resolved so that servers can put it back in rotation?

I was in that round as well, I was coordinating Huey movements (I CANT FLY IT MYSELF due to "strange lag" AAAAAAA!!!!!)as a SL and being a gunner in a Huey - SAW works excellent on the side seat

yea when i was flying the huey the other day, i had dropped off my squad at the poppy fields and had a door gunner with a saw. i circled around above giving overwatch when this technical drives in. I pull to a hover, swing right so my door gunner can see and he proceeds to light him up.
Seriously, Archer is a great map.
Paramedic, my only beef with the map are really minor and that's the one area that Insurgents have a cave complex, it's hard to get up to if the RP get's blown up (actually i think non-existant).
And then the other is kinda stupid, but i actually would have liked a bigger city. Cant go wrong with a bigger village to fight in
Otherwise, seriously great job. I think it's the new Al-Basrah and a great change of pace as well.

grapple or walk up from the west... every mountain has two ways in & out..ok.ok. But not all of the caves have this luxury
Anyways, I cant give away all the secrets or advantages to this map.... I suggest
you guys find out share intel amongst yourselves (I bet you cant find all the secrets of archer. lol.)

I also like Archer quite a bit. My only problems with it right now are some places people easily get stuck and the low amount of available RPGs and ground transportation for such a huge and spread-out map.
I've had a few ideas about this and maybe we can tweak that if it remains a problem. It's Paramedic's map so I'll talk to him what he thinks.
