Shotguns

Why does the Engineer kit even have a shotgun? It's already overloaded with equipment, and there's currently no incentive to choose the iron sight rifleman over the scoped rifleman - what's the reasoning behind this?
In my opinion, the Engineer should keep his breacher, but the iron sight rifleman should receive a buckshot shotgun with as many rounds as the current Engineer slug shot. In a standard squad of 6 (Officer, Medic, Engineer, Scoped Rifleman, Iron Rifleman, Automatic Rifleman/other), having one person with buckshot and another with slugshot would boost the CQB power of a properly loaded squad and prevent any one kit from becoming godlike.
It would help to test this in a game before we jump to conclusions as to its balance, but I don't know how to do that at the moment - any help is appreciated.

Then rather a pistol or smg. But i doubt any of them are realistic to be used by some random riflemen.

The shotguns are there to "breach doors"

There must be shotguns and they GOT TO KILL, make him lika "flac cannon", otherwise isn't realistic !

I don't get what you're saying. Are you complaining that there's not a spread on the shotgun? It's supposed to fire slugs, so that would be correct (although I think I was in fact getting spread yesterday on Basrah, but I could be wrong).
So far, I'm at two kills with the Engineer shotty, and I love it. Can't wait to see door-breaching implemented.

You can't balance kits out by giving other kits more stuff, that simply makes more kits stronger.
The shotgun breacher isn't particularly effective, since it doesn't have sights. Unless you're at point blank (breaching, perhaps?) it's basically useless.

Giving the engineer an assault rifle to compliment a shotgun is overkill. May as well add an RPG and stinger by that logic.

i cant believe how many dont get this. the shotgun is not meant for killing people, its meant for BREACHING DOORS. do your research, its very common for one man in a squad to have a shotgun slung on his back for breaching doors AND a rifle to defend himself. i havent seen it in use yet in game, perhaps for opening fences and wooden doors in maps like basrah, but that doesnt mean it wont see use in the future.

What a kit is MEANT for and USED for are two different things. This is a gameplay issue, not a PR meets reality issue.

Anyone trying to use a slugshot shotgun against troops in CQB will really struggle. There's no crosshairs or ironsights - it's like trying to hit a fish in a barrel, only in this case the fish is a minnow and the barrel is a thousand litre storage container.
And you're trying to hit it with a toothpick.
Thrown by a mouse.

It's really not that hard if you've been playing for a while and you can fire from the hip with any other weapon. Sure, I wouldn't trust my life with it, but it could get the job done if you aim correctly and you're very lucky.
One thing's certain: the enemy WILL stop, if not drop, in one hit.

However, you've only a few rounds, and the enemy can aim and shoot much faster, especialy with an automatic weapon, even if its weaker. You only have a chance if its really close and you can surprise him. I guess thats fair enough. I wouldnt chose this class only for the shotgun. (Unless i'm indeed going to be a door-breacher)

I used the shotgun very successfully on basrah to break open doors.

well im sure in real life, the door breaching soldier guy could use the shotgun to blast an insurgent if he wanted to as well. i dont think he would want to when hes up against an AK, but he could if he felt like it
