Tank passengers

I think the ability to be able for some soilders to just sit on the side of the tank and turret and move with it would be pretty neat and useful
For one thing you would have infantry to help take out the rpgs, rockets, ect
Another advantage is that you wouldnt have the huge convoy just two tanks

You mean there should be passenger slots on the tank, so when u press E and the appropriate F key you will sit outside? - otherwise the collision model will kill the infantry.
Interesting idea, but surely it would interfere with the turret traversing etc?
I've seen plenty of pics of men riding on t80s or WW2 tanks. But never on modern NATO type stuff.

Really uve never seen that
For one most NATO tanks have handles on the side for troops to ride on and hold them
Secondly you could mesh them together and stop that

Eh, several armies in WW2 had that as part of their doctrine (saved on having to use transport trucks), but that's gone as we've got areal transport.
Personally I think this would be a neat bonus for the militia faction.

I think it would be a good idea. It would be useful in urban maps later on if tanks do get used.
Like 2 tanks driving into a city, then the infantry gets off n take up positions around the tanks. I don't see why that wouldn't be a good idea.
Plus it would solve the transport problem.
Like first 10 mins when everyone gets set up n gets into transporter is fine, but later on in the round u may get stuck at main.
Plus if there is a dedicated Transport squad, it may not be able to take a whole squad sumwhere in a support truck, u end up getting spilt up.
If it is do able then i think they should at least try it out.
Even so i really can't see people abusing it like they drive the tank sumwhere with a squad on it then leave it after using it, because to be fair no one is that much of a tard, and due to the kit limiting system there wouldn't be like a tank with 2 LAT people and 2 HAT people riding it all rockets blazing, (it would be kinda cool though)

The Reason for this is because you get a rpg or something hits the back the turret has to turn which takes time and by that time the RPG is reloaded and firing agian and killing the tank but with this the rpg hits all the troops jump off and fire in the direction it came from and with the new suppresion effect it will allow the tank to get away and then the troops can regroup and go along

(I wanted to start a new thread but being a good boy I did the search thing and found an ancient thread)
Tanks should be able to mount a squad on the outside of its hull. This is realistic and good for gameplay. On Kashan and other maps it is very common to see squads stranded on the battlefield or in main with no means of transportation. We have all seen the pictures of t-72 loaded with people on in front, on top and back of the turret in middle eastern countries. This is not a conventional transport tactic for western forces but there is nothing saying this would not happen in a conventional war when there is no other means of tranportation and it is absolutely necessary to get to the front.
Having people on the tank would of course limit the tanks ability to fight. But 1 squad behind the turret on the t-80 and chinese tank and 1 squad on the turret of the abrahms and challenger should leave the tank the ability to traverse its turret atleast 270 degrees. We all now it is possible to stop the movement of tank gun AKA the 30 seconds warmup rule so limiting its movement range should not be a problem. There is of course a danger sitting on a tank while it is firing its main gun, and this is not what is intented here. What I am suggesting is the ability for the tank to transport troops on its way to the front. Should the tank fire its maingun it should lead to a ringing tone and visual effects similar to being close to a handgrenade explosion ingame but during considerably longer time and perhaps a little bit of shock damage. The soldiers sitting on the side of the tank is of course also unshielded against enemy fire.
Good or bad idea?

This idea was great for russian APC and BMP, as i know russian soldiers never travel inside APC's, because whe IED detonating all peoples inside APC will die momentally.

They would? I kind of doubt an APC would be less protection than a Jackal or a MRAP.

This could be good ofr miliatia, BRDM2 with option to sit on top of it.

people would ride on armor IRL, but not on a battlefield. also 3 tank crewmen (driver, gunner and 50.cal) would mean you couldnt get a full squad on anyways.

Im just have a feeling that if the tanks fired their 120m, that all the surrounding soldier would die or be rendered unconscious from the force.
And ofcourse they risk the threat of being hugely vulnerable
I also think it could invent some gamey-arcadey tactics.
...mongol...

To be honest, it may be "cool" to some but it's not practical. The problem is that people are twits and will do silly things; as in not dismount the tank and wonder why they got blown away from an incoming tank shell that hit the one they were riding on.
In all the times I've played as an armored crewman, I never had any intentions on giving a ride to an infantryman. This is because most of the time the tanks are located far away from a flag zone and are generally offering overwatch with their long range capability. Besides that, most maps with tanks always have APC's available. If people aren't using APC's for their primary role in the first place, why the hell bother?
The point still stands. There is no necessity for tanks to be able to offer a passenger ride for infantry. There are Rally Points, Bunkers, APC's, Jeeps, Supply Trucks, Helicopters, etc. There is already a sufficient amount of alternatives that are practical and emphasize teamwork.
Additionally if anyone has ever played HALO, think about it and remember how often did anyone jump onto the Scorpion Tank you were driving? If you can answer that it did happen, then ask yourself the next question: How much good did it do?
In both scenarios, it's clear that it's generally worthless and will create more issues than solutions. It's fine as it is and always has folks.
One last thing I'd like to mention is that all the traveling distances in PR are generally small. Until we have distances like ARMA with like, what? 20km maps? The travel distance is minuscule. Matter of fact... The commute distance between my home and my work on a daily basis is DOUBLE the width of Kashan Desert.

Soldiers riding on the M1A1 Turret.
But Mongol here has a decent point. It can't be good to be sitting on the turret when it fires, however. The argument is also suitable for people that use tanks as cover now ingame. (Which I've done. Followed a tank across open ground.) I've had the gun go off right over my hand ingame.
But personally? I don't even see the point. Every tank crew I've ever seen is about Tank / Infantry hunting rather then transport duty. Its hard enough to get a crewed APC to give ya a ride, Try it with a tank and see how it works out?
POST EDIT:
As per the comment of tanks not likely to give you transport. Read Warren's post above. I think it makes my point as well.
