Sound effects

Please remove the helo sound effects. I’m forever looking for a helo that isn’t there. It does nothing for reality and in fact has the opposite effect.

That's probably a bug....? There are no invisible choppers in PR, so that must be the infamous chopper-sound-bug you have experienced

Thought it was gone since 0.7, but I must be wrong then......?

Still happens on Al Basrah a bit.. Not a huge deal; usually disappears when a real chopper takes off.

Thanks for the fast response. I’ll make better note of which map and where next time but assumed it was intentional and you knew.

I had that bug with an APC engine sound today.
It also happens with the coughing-near-death sound.

I had that phantom helo today on Al Basrah that ReadMenace posted about. Sound was in A6 and when approached where the noise was the loudest there was a form on the ground like part of a helo fuselage. When I got closer it disappeared and the sound came from another area B7. Same thing again. When approached object is seen but if you get too near it disappears. The sound disappeared when an in-game helo came near.

On certain maps when a sound crosses over from one ambience location to another, it remains at the place of the crossover. Can't find a way to fix it so far but we'll keep trying.

I have experienced these phantom sounds too.
After updating BF2's OpenAL libs they have considerably decreased, but e.g. the Dam area at Jabal Al-Burj is still one of the locations where I keep hearing this constant chopper flap-flap-flap.
