Should tanks drive up hills easier?

I am really annoyed when I try to drive a tank up some hill with a quite normal slope and the tank just keeps on sliding down again.

Common seriously IT`S A TANK. Tanks can get up those slopes easily.

I just want to know how you think about that, cause it´s really annoying me.

theres not such a thing as "grip" in the BF2 engine...

Hell yeah, and increase grip on APCs too.

That´s a pitty. But I realized a slight improvement from Bf2 to PR also with the infantry. It´s easier to get up a hill in PR then in Bf2 imo.

Is there nothing you can do to improve the "grip"?

one specifically the MEC and PLA tanks seriously need some better off roading.

I would say no because if you increase it it would make it easier to get armor up into the hills which frankly are tankers worst nightmare. Tanks IRL are greatly disadvantaged in rugged/mountainous terrain. Sure they could climb steeper terrain but only if it where smooth. If maps(all maps) had the offroad terrain roughened up just enough that traversing it in vehicles were inconvenient, at best, then increased the "climbing ability", it would makes roads worth more but still give that offroad option.

Currently, jeeps and apc's can easily climb slopes that tanks cannot. It should be the other way around.

a CH2 goes up hills in real life a lot better then they do in PR so it would be nicer to see that.

What about the
ObjectTemplate.grip
variable for tyres (seen in the .tweak file for the GB landy)?

And the two variables for speed which also affect hill-climbing ability?
and... what about them? can these values be used to help tank sliding issue?

Sounds like it, its a .grip fyle. It's comical watching the T99 or whatever the PLA tank is clawing its way up the 10 degree slope on that big map thats friendly to noone, with the coal mine....Cant remember name but it's annoying to tell driver to back on a small slope just to have him say I cant get any grip O_o

lol Jonny. The depths to which you know about this engine amazes me.

And I know there's been a lot of psising and moaning over the lack of tank climbing ability....but seriously, it's totally wrong. Not that this is news.

They got the tanks that way so destroyed bridges can be worth a damn.

Just curious Johnny: If those values for vehicle "grip" were maxed out, would we have Spiderman tanks that could go up vertical textures?

sweetness, imagine that, no need for any bridges at all! Oh look theres a sniper on that 100 story building, lets drive my abrams UP the wall and chase him around on top of the roof for an hour

would be sweet if it could be fixed, also that tracked vehicles wind themselfs into the hill.
