servers still crashing?

Our clan admins (bf2cc) a pr server and it still seems to crash after the server update for v7.5, when reloading albas and op archer..., Has anyone else experienced this? It would help immensly if someone could suggest why this is happening or even how to find out what is causing the problem, if it is PR or if its the server.

Its getting exremely annoying now when weve got a full 64 player server for a round then it completely empties because of a crash. It seems to happen after the next map loads, yah know .., in the client when the Join button appears?

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

hrm its happening mostly on reload of abasrah, i dont think the server has yet to have the chance of changing to Op.archer. We run 2 rounds of albas then op.archer, each time the round of albas is overwith and it reloads it crashes.

First, Archer and Albasrah are very big, and demanding maps on servers. Lots of objects, destructables, and sizable. This alone will challenge the best server hardware.

Secondly, Archer has many caches and spawn points that seem to go over the 1024 limit for destructables. I have finished a newer version of the GPO.con and have removed some of the single floor statics that use multiple pieces to single piece destructables. By doing this, I have reduced the number of destrucatble statics from 789 to 603 (a huge improvement). Nonetheless, i have to re-lightmap all the new statics which take quite sometime. Unlike, Albasrah, Archer's lightmaps are ALL done on very high settings and it will take 18-24 hours to complete them (which they are being done as we speak).

Just so you all know, it took 14+ days to light map Archer using a 3.4ghz P4 with 3g of ram.

Lastly, we need to pick one of the threads below and stick to it!!! Please.

Al Basrah is still stuffed.
It shouldnt be in rotation unless you are prepared to deal with the server crashes.

I played Al Basrah on the T&T server once, with other maps in the rotation. Bi Ming loaded fine after Al Basrah was finished. :)

You need a Dual or Quadcore man. It's wonders above the old Pentium's.

Count yourself lucky.
It crashes more than it runs properly.

frazz it has happened after the round of Basrah when trying to load Operation Archer. On tuesday i was in the server and we just finished Bas and OA was next up and the server crashed.

I have now changed the Datorbutiken server to 24/7 Al Basrahl!

It only happens when a map (Basrah, Archer) reloads. Not if it is rotation! So just make a 24/7 insurgency server with both maps and it'll be fine i guess...

Heh sry d00d but it happens on Albas only too.., only last night i was on bf2CC.., again full server it crashed out and wiped the profile.., had to spend 15+ mins recreating the profile with albas only, to restarting the server. It never recovered from there and ended up been empty the rest of the evening. Most annoying.

we experienced that with al basrah in the cycle archer would crash during the round in contrast to now (only archer) where it crashes while reloading the map which is imho clearly better than the server crashing during the round.

squadbug becomes a serious problem due to folks switching teams all the time, though.

Myself and other players have been experiencing servers crashing often. TCombat and TexasTeamplayers crashed on me one after the other today, and neither of them were running Al Basrah or Op Archer. Is this a game build problem or a server problem?

So has anyone any incline at all why this happens or even a solution? Moreover, can i provide anything in the way of logs to help with this? I dont have physical access to the server only bf2cc but i can ask an admin with more access to find out if needs be.

The solution is simple for now, remove Operation Archer and Albasrah from server rotation or be prepared to deal with the crashes.

Hopefully both will be fixed for the next release but only time will tell.
Not alot we (as server admins) can do about it, nor do we have alot of options.
We all miss Albasrah but server stability would be most server admins priority.

Op Archer and Al Basrah are not the only maps causing servers to crash. Read Above^^

Are there any updates/news/fixes/suggestions on this problem? apart from completely junking insurgency mode?

If its not the server crashing its grrrr @ squadbug ( which i believe is a bf2 problem anyway? ). Had to restart the server 3x to get rid of squadbug the other night after an end of round server crash...,players baying for admin blood lol.

I hope to *#$^ this problem is a high priority for the next version!
These maps are the best maps in the whole game and its such a shame to see them off the rotations...

Is this just a hardware issue?
