arresting civilians

It seems to me, that it is nearly impossible to "arrest" civilians anymore, even if they juggle with 10 rocks at point-blank range.
Is this not a little bit unrealistic?
(although its fun to see whole squads chasing a civi with no luck)

Suppress him/her. If he/she cant see where he's going, its easier to arrest him/her. Works sometimes, but of course its a bit loud... but you've been spotted anyway if he/she saw you.

What I like to do is shoot the civilian in the leg till he starts bleeding. (Yes not as realistic, but works in-game). Usually you can't sprint when your bleeding (heavily) making it easier to arrest. But I agree that the civilian sprint is a little too long.

Ive not found any difficulty in arresting civvies, its a shame theres no way to fire near them SWAT style and tell them to get on the floor. Still ive found with 2 people you can head a civvie off easily and quickly.
Why dont the DEV's just swap out the knife models for some strip handcuffs (like in swat) and just treat them as knives that do damage. Would kill civvies ni the same way as a knife, would just make people feel a lot happyer.
so instead of knives you have strip cuffs.

I doubt SWAT would shoot near somebody and then arrest them. Way too dangerous.
Oh, and if you're talking about SWAT4: Shooting near somebody does not decrease their morale, it only alarmes them.

It works i do it all the time, anyway, my point is if you had handcuffs youd be arresting anyone you "kill" with them, if you can take prisoners its better to right?
Insurgents could be taken to be interogated and you could get info points out of them.
In fact technically you should get more from them because they would know exactly where the caches are, and its harder to get close enough to one of them to "arrest" them anyway.

I think the devs are working on a model. A overheat or prepare time for the cuffs would be good, so you cant cuff-spam someone, since arresting takes time.

That could be cool, especialy if there could be a way to freeze (ur just slow down to a near stop) the movments of the player for a second or two.

"Was that a squad of civilians?"
"Maybe, why you ask?"
"Cause we got rocks stuck in our grill!"

Handcuffs would be cool though instead of using the ussualy knife logic how about making it do damage when behind someone (something like the Spy knife in TF2)

Civis are easy to knife, if they're fool enough to look behind them.

I've had smart civis just keep running, until his sprint was out. Civis have a larger sprint than the soldiers, because I was out of breath and he was still running as medic.
Maybe letting the knife be used while running would be nice. There's an option for it in all weapons' .tweak files to allow use while running.

You can use it while running, but not while
sprinting

Those little loopholes.

Still, I'll experiment with custom lines. You never know what's hidden!

What about just having fists. Remove the knife and the same animation.. Still not realistic, but way easier than handcuffs, and better than knives. But it would require another weapon slot or no knife at all

So if I wanted to stab an insurgent would I be Choking him with bare hands instead?

I think its easyer to justify using handcuffs on an insurgent then to choke him. If a soldier can he will take a prisoner.
