I was wondering if this would be a better method, having 2 firemodes for the SOFLAM GLD, primary is the off position, when you hit the SOFLAM key again it turns it on, but you have to have the unit in sight view, when you hit zoom key again, it turns off the unit, since just lasing a target and running is kinda unrealistic, cuase then where is the laser? Doing this will make the guy with the SOFLAM stay put to actually lase the target and has the same vulnerabilites as real life with staying still to keep a laser on a target. Basically make it so that the laser is only active when the guy has the thing to his face to keep laser on target, cause by running down the hill, the laser isn't on the target, making it disappear.
Discuss
PS add some sights for the shotgun at least, cause BFK has some sights for it, the zoom on a shotgun is batty and pointless(though Im still wondernig why the shotty was brought back cause there aren't any doors for it to breach)

yea, on the note about the shottys, yea all there are are those fence blockades, which are a bit mad. if you shot a fence it wouldnt knock it down, it would just put a hole in it, lols.
and the laser does take time to lase, but what if when the laser is sent it's location on the GPS is stored in the gunship's/Jet's memory, and doesnt need to be hanging for long periods of time?

light travels at around 300000000m/s, not the 200m/s thats in-game.
Looks like sombody woke up on the wrong side of the bunker this morning.
Yea, you are correct, but for the purposes of emulating reality, its a laser.

yea right now there is a projectile that gets shot out of the soflam at 200m/sec with a laser target on it, the projectile can stick to things and lasts for 30sec, so it is more like a sticky laser then a real one.

Why does the thing travel at such a slow rate? You'd think that you could up the velocity of it so you could stick a moving target with it.

You can - just put the target on the ground in front of the vehicle, as it drives over it it should pick up the target and transfer to it.
Yeah it's a long way from perfect, but it works.

I imagine the reason is its so slow is due to calculating collisions. If you up the speed too high the server wont be able to calculate fast enough and your laser would just travel through objects or in a worse case scenario, the world.
Ive experienced this myself in games when we've been playing around.
