I was wondering if, since I have BF2 installed and PR up to date; can I play without the disc? I know you can play it when the disc isnt in, but is there a way to make the computer think the disc is in, or some other way?

But if you prefer, you can use a image. Do you know how to do that ?

or you could create a ISO file of your disc with Alcohol 120 and mount it on a virtual drive which would make the comp think u got the disc inserted

yes, that would work.
it would also take about 20x more time than downloading a mini-image
it would also take about 2 GB (not sure on the exact amount) of space when a mini-image takes about 10 MB.

as for instructions:
1. download daemon tools
2. install daemon tools
3. download bf2 mini-image (GameCopyWorld - Mirrors - No-CD, No-DVD Patches, Game Fixes, Trainers & Cheats)
4. mount the image with daemon tools. (right click -> choose "virtual cd/dvd rom" -> choose any device -> mount image. Then just choose the bf2 image and you are done.

ohh and if there is some kind of a problem with starting the game then right click -> emulation -> all options on.

DAEMON Tools Lite, google it...download it.
Download the images (see post above with link) and place them somewhere you know where to find > for later on.

when you have DAEMON running, right click the icon in the process tray (bottom right there) and click "Virtual CD/DVD-ROM" > "Mount Image"

Then When the Open Image window Pops up, just find that image file (the file provided on the link up ^). and you should be good to go

Get DAEMON up and running everytime your PC starts (put it shortcut to program in "Startup" in the star menu) I'ts not a big memory hogger app and you should never have to worry about that bloody BF2 disc... Mines broke a while ago, dunno how, just that EA think its ok to make them out of crappy plastic, then when you do brake them, EA charge you a tenner or something for a new one)... :? ??: grr

but still he could simply create a image with Alcohol 120 (Google it if u dont know what it is) and then mount it with daemon tools....it takes far much less time than downloading a 2.5 GB thing

I'm sure that the images everyone here is talking about are so called 'mini-images'.

The size is just faked and in reality they're only few KB's big.

the download and real image is some kbs/megabyte, but the size is fake, the files are fake these just fake size and fake files but the game think that this is real disc.. these are legal if you have legal copy/license for the game.

Why wouldn't Daemon tools work?

Mounting an image with Daemon Tools or Alcohol is as simple as putting a disc in the drive. You right click on the Daemon Tools icon in the taskbar and find the virtual drive (windows recognizes this as a real drive and assigns it a letter just like it would a regular drive). It has a slideout menu and in it is the option to 'mount image' which is equivalent to putting the disc into the drive. Then you just browse for whereever you saved it to and it should be read by windows like you had it in your real drive.
