Okay, I was just on PR in the challenger 2 tank, a bomb truck was heading towards us and my gunner missed his first round so I started to drive like the clappers. hoping wed gain enough ground before the truck got close enough to blow us to tiny postage stamp sized pieces.
This didnt work, the truck quickly gain ground on us and blew up.
Both me and the gunner were like WTF
Now I know that the challenger tank in reality is the fastest tank on rough terrain, capable of 40mph. Now correct me if im wrong but a truck like the insurgents have would be screwed if it even left the road and attempted to follow a challenger.
YouTube - Range Rover Sport vs Challenger II Tank
So why the hell was it able to catch our challenger?
Cant we have veichles that move more close to realistic speeds. Now I know the truck is supposed to be a bomb truck but it should work on the element of surprise, this was just ridiculous its not even close to reality.

Jester, don't take this the wrong way, but you seem to have way too many complaints about Insurgency. I've read a couple of your suggestions that were somewhat valid, but a lot of them are coming off a bit whiny. The bomb truck on that map doesn't handle well at all on rough terrain--I've had it blow up after just a few meters off the road, killing me. But on the flat (or relatively flat) ground, it will do the speed that a real tractor would. I've been to Iraq and I know that there are plenty of stretches of hard, flat desert that are very easy to drive across. And though many armored vehicles can do about 40mph, very few would beat a normal passenger car or truck on that kind of flat terrain. True, they would come out unscathed, but the bomb truck driver isn't exactly concerned about damaging his vehicle--it's going to be destroyed anyway.
Anyway, this isn't intended to be a personal attack on you at all. I just hope you are cherry-picking your best suggestions for the game mode, and not just venting about what you have a hard time adjusting to. In any case, I hope you'll stick with it.

SgtShellback is right, if you drive the truck offroad and go too fast you will be heavily damaged.
If you stay on the road, you're capable of going faster than a tank, and that sounds right to me.

Im not complaining about insurgency, Its my favorite game mode, which is why I wish to help improve it, though I do feel certain elements are not as good as they either used to be in 0.7 or could be overall. The reason I have so many suggestions for insurgency is because ive only played AAS a habndful of times so I cannot in my own oppinion have a valid say on how they opperate.

If the truck was so close that he was able to close in on you before you were able to reload another shell, id have to say its your gunners fault for missing.

Whether he missed or not is not the issue, the fact that the damn thing could outrun a challenger is rediculous.
And btw the blasted thing is hardy too we went on lan and tested this out again to make sure it wasnt just me being a slow driver... the truck out ran us on ANY surface, It followed me over the roughest terrain and did not explode once, to add insult to injury the thing takes 2 AP rounds to blow it up, how is this in any way even remotly like reality?
The damn thing shouldnt even be able to move on rough terrain but its faster then the world fastest tank (on rough terrain).
If anyone watched that vid of topgear, it clearly shows the challenger 2 outrunning a very good off road 4x4. And yet insurgents have little rust bucket cars and huge Truck cabs that can outrun it on the roughest of terrain. ITS WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG. Im not asking for the things to be removed or totaly nerfed, i just want something more true to reality.
Nothing is scaled right. The challengers armour is like paper the trucks is like steel, the challenger is slow the truck is like greased lightning. Bah!

Outmaneuvering and outrunning are two different things.

Thank you Sherlock. Now how does that relate to the post seen as the truck pretty much followed the challenger 2 in a straight line over rough terrain? Is that outmaneuvering or outrunning?
Why don't you go on al basrah lan and test the truck yourself on rough terrain versus a challenger 2. Is it really that hard to admit/accept there is a fault in the mod? A truck does not outrun a challenger 2 on bumpy terrain otherwise the challenger 2 might as well just use the same truck tires. Only problem the truck might face are 45 degree slopes that it can only pass with sufficient speed.

I don't think that truck is to fast.
It sounds like it really surprised you.
Or..if it didn't really surprise you...
Next time that happens jump on the fifty caliber gun.
You got to really sweat out whats lurking in between the waves of sand.

It didn't really surprise us. It was about 100m off (I was his gunner), fired main turret think I mightve hit them but it was an AP round so it didnt blow up. Then Jester stepped on the gas hoping to gain some ground but the truck was surprisingly fast. I fired at it a second time but missed because of the bumpiness. The truck was too close to reload another round so I hopped on the .50 cal and hoped for the best. No luck there either.
I wonder if the dude driving the truck goes on these forums?

I have to say it was an epic chase.
