Al Basrah Bold Civies....

First off I want to commend all that were involved with the latest update.
Very nice job!
I know PR is always a work in progress.
I like the changes that were implemented in regard to the civie class as well as the penalties for killing them.
I think it was a definite step in the right direction.

But there are still some issues and I hope I have a solution to place on the table.

There has got to be a way to make the civie class feel more vulnerable, and less bold in their attempts to aid the insurgency.
In my opinion....a civie in all actuality would not want to get caught aiding the insurgency in any way, form, or fashion.
This would include spotting targets.
I propose that, if it is at all possible, to allow the shooting of civies who are actively spotting targets.
This means....binoculars held to the face.
This would ensure the civilian class is utilizing cover and concealment while aiding the insurgency.
If you think about it a moment...they should be trying to be secretive about this behavior.

Also....as far as the civie kill punishment goes....I like the new way the warning message comes across the screen at the left. I also like the increased respawn timer, and I also like the "3 strike" policy symbolizing arrest and court marshal.
I just dont think it is severe enough and I dont think it is swift enough.
What if a player kills a civie....and then goes on a streak....and doesnt die for the rest of the round?

At this point in PR's logevity.....I would up the anty.
I would also implement upon the 1st kill....weapons malfunction.
This could be represented in-game by having the offending soldier's main weapon's ammo decreased to zero.
Whether they be on foot in a tank or whatever....they would need to reload or pick up another kit in order to continue fighting.

Just my .02.

What do you fellas think?

Yes, because weapons simply cannot bear the fact, that they are supposed to kill people and they jam themselves, when the soldier using them finally kills someone

I mean, WTF?

I disagree with the op. The civilian kit is played too aggressively- a player side bug.

British teams just need to get better with fire control- even then accidents will happen and the current punishment system is sufficient.

The point of the civilian I believe is to provide targets the British must not kill to simulate civilians in the contact area. The fact that these civilians are actually helping the insurgency doesn't really matter since they arnt shooting at ya, they are not legitimate targets according to the ROE.

yea perhaps a harsher penalty for getting 'arrested' for civs, lets say, 5 min? That might make them a bit more shy when it comes to getting up close to the brits..

You're team has just lost # tickets because of your actions!' was used instead of the current one that seems to give no warning about penalties (Check your fire! You just shot a CIVILIAN!).
I politely disagree. This, in my opinion, would do nothing to stop noobs and smacktards from killing civis. I don't think punishing the team because some noob didn't read the manual or just doesn't care is going to fix the problem.

The civi rocks just need to be removed, so people stop playing the civilian role agressively.

I guess this attitude is condusive to a friendly forum too I guess, eh mods?

The weapons jam is punishment.....punishment as a result of killing a civie....it renders the shooter useless and defenseless.....just as defenseless as the civie they shot....
call it a bad coincidence, bad Kharma, Murphy's Law of combat or what ever.

No schit....killing a civie doesnt cause or result in a weapons jam.
My suggestion is a form of penalty for doing so.

Besides.....if you are the type to shoot civies.....its probably a safe bet you are also the type that wouldnt pm and clean your weapon to protect against a jam or malfunction.

Then no one would play Civi...

The game is still called Project Reality and that isn't very realistic and I am not even one of the biggest advocates for realism either.
