Good work so far on the Russian mod, folks I was just thinking that it'd be nice to see a map set around the northern Norway (Finnmark)/Murmansk (Russia) border area. The Royal Marines have had an outpost in Finnmark since the cold war, this could be the staging ground of a Russian push into Scandinavia. Also back in the 80's the Soviets drew up plans for a potential amphibious assault of Sweden from the Baltic Sea, perhaps this could also make for an interesting scenario.

Haha, well sure, if you guys come up with a Norwegian mod that'd be cool for this scenario too. Since the Russian mod seems to be progressing well, UK forces could be used initially, and replaced by Norwegians at a later date I need to start reading the map making tutorials.

You make the maps, I'll supply the kit, kthxbye.

when you say there is a marines outpost, is it only a land base or is there also navy ?
because it would be great to have a map with a naval base, like the map in SF
(there was also a pr community map with this statics (colorado naval base) but unfortunatly it was never finished)

Yay! The combined armies of Scandinavia would make a nice faction. We Swedes would probably ally ourselves with anybody (including the danes ) in order to push back a Russian invasion.

No, seriously now. A Russian invasion of Scandinavia would make an interesting setting for PR! Now that so many new factions are introduced for the game in all of these community mods a Scandinavian Coalition wouldn't be such a bad suggestion, right?

way to many community mods right now.... the idea of the french faction just makes me cringe.

besides the point, i think this would be a good idea. Would be interesting to see if there would be an idea of the Russians coming across the Bering Strait into Alaska to fight maybe the American/Canadian factions. But i wanna say i heard somewhere that there might not be any Russia v. US? dont quote me.

I've just been reading up somemore on the subject, apparently the Marines no longer patrol the border along Finnmark, they only conduct training exercises a bit further south, from Evenes air base and Harstad (35km north). Harstad has a harbour and 13km east of Evenes is Bogen with it's deep water harbour funded by NATO to move equipment north to Troms by road. No dedicated naval bases in the area though as far as I know.

I'd much rather see a dedicated Swedish army, I'm not really a fan of the whole coalition thing in PR. The MEC is bad enough if you ask me. But the Swedish army defending against a Russian naval assault would rock! I wish you guys still used those turretless tanks, they could make an interesting addition to the game.

After reading about Norway's oil industry earlier on, I thought about this as well. Perhaps an audit of the Midnight Sun map from Armored Fury could be used. I must say though, I'll be a bit disappointed if Russia vs. US never happens on PR (along with many more poeple).

Foreign troops have never patrolled Norway. Don't know where you heard this.
Also I don't think Sweden alone could constitute a faction in-game. A Scandinavian Coalition would be more likely.

No need to start a hissy fit. Just know that the rules are there now, and that the mods will respect them, as should you.

IF some guys are interested a northern conflict with danish swedish and norwegian mod where made up to a degree that they had fighters and some weapons up before they moved to crysis maybe if someone wanna pull up a northern forces say that norway and swedish co operate against russian I dont know. The mod I was also talking about is also a part of black sand studio so if you asked politely you could get what they had.
