Britsh Anti Air Tank

Post by captmohamed »

I've checked the forms for any previous posts for a Brit AA tank and there are none.

So i've played every air map with the British forces and the the Brits haven't got a proper AA tank except the American supplied 'Bradly' IFV.

So when i discovered any old book i got from my uncle called: 'Tanks and other Armoured Fighting Vehicles of the world' I went for a look in it and found the 'Falcon' SP AA Tank which is the AA version of the SP 105-mm fd. gun 'Abbot'.
The Falcon role is to provide AA cover from low-flying aircraft and light armoured vehicles, the main armament of the Falcone is Hispano-Suzia automatic guns, with a rate fire(each) of 650 rounds per minute.
so maybe add our own Stinger missile racks and we'll have a British AA Vehicle ready for combat.

But the book was published in 1988 :( so if the UK has a New AA vehicle system please tell me.
If PR is already devloping one......

then ignore this. reply if you want.

Bullock is correct. The HVMS would be overkill in PR due to the fact that aircraft only have flares for defense and this system uses 'other' methods for target aquisition.

Just get some MANPADS out on the ground. Tanks are also good for bad heli pilots!!! :)

tanks make effective AA against A-10s/frogfoots that attack from less than a 35/45 degree angle of attack :P took another A-10 out today as it rolled in to shoot me with its rockets. go figure.

Welcome to the forums, captmohamed. I think this is an original suggestion, and thank you for checking the forums first. :)

US Army, actually. Or it would be if the Linebacker hadn't been withdrawn from service.

As for the Starstreak HVM being overkill, since the operator has to constantly keep the target in his sights (SACLOS), I don't think there's a problem with there being no way to throw off a lock with dispensed countermeasures.
