pretty unrealistic actually (not the it's "realistic" but more, it would be pointless within this game).
The way you set it up, you pretty much hold hover for about 20 + seconds. the time it takes for that BUFF of a helo to slow down, hover over the spot, and wait for people to get out, is about double the time it takes for an RPG gunner to get in position and put a rocket in you, or double the time it takes for a techincal to find you and light you up.
That said, you also have to hold a perfect hover which makes you an easy target for everyone on the map. you move forward even a little, and as noted in the 3rd video the rope will disconnect (the guy drops half way down the rope because helo moves forward and rope detaches).
sure it's possible. is it worth it.. hmmmmm up to you. depends if you like waiting at your helo spawn for 10 mins for the next one.
pointless. good job though.

Very sweet! Can you explain the basic principles of how it's down? (so we can make suggestions on how to do it better)

Truly epic, shame it's worthless

.
Still, looked hawt! Next test, import and sf zipline to PR and try that out of a merlin!

BASICALLY WHAT YOU DO IS SIT IN THE F7 OR F6 SEAT AS A SPEC OP AND get the pilot to hover then press e so you stand inside the chopper get your grappling hook out and throw it out the back or side and just climb down. takes practice though

and it can only be done in merlin.
sry bout the caps couldnt be bothered to change it.
@ecko
that would make it go much faster and make it useful.

Epic! But indeed worthless. Please don't implement F4ztr0p3s into PR so I can continue to nag the DEVS about it.

It's been known for yonks that you could sling a rope up to/out of a helicopter like that; it's just not "fastroping" as people want it - which is for it to be quick, efficient and a better alternative than landing
Given that choppers blades can't hit anything, it's still quicker and safer to land lol.
I can see servers over the next few days filling with people trying this... *shudder*.

On OGT/any map with trees, this allows troops to be deployed via helicopter into somewhere a chopper could not normally land.

its really not hard to throw a grappling hook out the side or back of the merlin... If you call that fast roping its already in PR...

The whole 'throw-grappling-hook-out' idea isn't that new, is it?
