Don't know what it would be used for but would anyone be interested if I coded up a rough version of a line charge for the PR devs to tweak to their wants?

IRL it is used for minefield clearing and I heard it was used in one battle in Iraq with a sniper invovled I think.

ye me too I had to look it up :p

From what it says here its some kinda mine clearing device thou this tells me very little about it and i aint going to be doing loads of research on it :p

it sounds interesting, if you want to code something up and show it off to us by all means do, but cant grantee it being used in PR.

Basically a Rocket, with a length of explosive charge "rope" behind it... It fires and lands.... rope goes "BANG" and path through the mines is cleared :D (In theory ;) )

Yeah exactly. I might be able to code say a grenade round that spawns C4 to this effect.

that gives alot more info and shows more or less how it works.

the trailer part of it thou = pretty flawed to getting it into PR and 100m x 16m clearance is also pretty extrema for PR, you will never see a mine filed that big, most the time it just a few mines in a line along a road :p

Actually it was used in Iraq by marines in the delta company when they were entering Basrah? and Baghdad, also when crossing rivers.

The thing is the rope isnt always working, and sometimes a combat engineer had to go in for the medal run, meaning that one of them had to run into the mine field and then place C4 along side the rope, then get back to safety and blow it up.

ehhhh didn't say it wasn't used in r/l, saying that having it on a trailer in r/l and having it on a trailer ingame is pretty flawed since trailers aint possible in BF2 afaik. So you would most likly have to find some other way of doing it other than a trailer and still, in PR 100m by 16m is still very exstream for PR, not talking about r/l here.

Well i wasnt trying to prove it was used, i was trying to prove it was used for small mines, i just for got to mention that.

IIRC it can also be launched via specialized tank or hmwv. Either way, i dont think theres much use for it.
