The army pretty much said $#$! off with it, but I know its still being developed for the Marine Corps, its a pretty damn good helo (when it can actually stay in the air :p ).

Defiantly a good idea to put in the mod though (especially if the mod is supposed to take place during the BF2 time frame, like 5+ years from present day)

For those that are not aware:
http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/osprey/ wrote: The first of four LRIP (low-rate initial production) MV-22 models completed Operation / Evaluation in August 2000. Following an aircrash in December 2000, a number of upgrades have been implemented including redesign of hydraulics and wiring in the nacelles and improved flight control software. A two-year flight test program began in May 2002 and a second OP/EVAL phase began in March 2005. USAF CV-22 resumed flight testing in September 2002. The first CV-22 was delivered to the USAF in October 2005.

A further 11 LRIP aircraft (nine MV-22 and two CV-22) were ordered in May 2003, 11 (eight MV-22 and three CV-22) in February 2004 and 11 (nine MV-22 and two CV-22) in January 2005.

The V-22 was approved for full-rate production in September 2005. Initial operating capability is planned for 2007 for the MV-22 and 2009 for the CV-22. 360 MV-22 (to replace CH-46 Sea Knight) and 50 CV-22 (to replace MH-53J Pave Low helicopters) are required.

I would love to see this aircraft brought in for the USMC. The sad thing is the V-22 varients are replacing the MH-53J and CH-46...

It is an amazing aircraft though.

I have only heard of one V-22 osprey crash, and that was during testing, you act as if they fall from the sky every 30 minutes :| , its a very good hybrid aircraft and if it is put into the mod, that would be excellant and would be a joy to fly/ride in.

I think it should be something you could spawn into, and you'd get a parachute if you did. I dunno that that would be realistic up to you guys.

Also crashes (according to Tom Clancy's guided tour of an MEU) have been attributed to user-error.

Always gonna be user error. I had a couple of friends die in a training acident in a Huey. The USMC called it pilot error. The frikkin' vert fin fell off. The pilot did not do the Emergency procedure exactly correct on a low light level night, so 2 of the 4 crew died. The pilot the did the EP was the best I ever had known. Not new and unexpirenced or old and cocky, but right there at the top of his game. They also blamed him for not inspecting the tail boom properly.

It will never be the choppers fault cause then they gotta ground the whole fleet for at least a month...... or in a test AC, start all over again.

Well, stock BF2 is set in 2007, which is next year. And the Osprey hasn't made it out of its second field trials, yet. Right now a test squadron (6-8 aircraft, I think) is deployed on the USS Bataan in the Med for these trials. Once again, the BF2 stock storyline/setting may not always be in PR, but even if it is, the Osprey won't be in full service for a few years even in that timeline (to fight alongside other weapons that aren't yet or never will be in service :p ).

From everything I've heard about them, I dunno how sad it is that the CH-46 is being replaced. They may have been good in their prime, I don't know, but right now, the fleet is often literally falling apart.

Wonder if it's just the MH-53Js or the MH-53Ms, too, that USAF intends to replace.
