Huey Gunship

Being a Marine Huey and Cobra Mechanic for the past 18 years, I was impressed with the look of the huey model. However, the only feature that was lacking was the DAS mounts on each side of the cargo doors to mount the 240, 50 cal or mini guns. Since the 50 cal and mini guns(blackhawk or Seahawk) is available, each one of those guns could be mounted on either side of the huey for aerial support before or during inserting troops. We set up our missions for the most part with a 50 cal on the right and a mini gun to the left side. PR DEV's, you think you could implement this on your new addition? It would bring the USMC that much closer to realism. Thanks for you time, Semper Fi.

There was a screen shot of a Huey with guns, but apparently it was not ready.

Edit: found one Image

Thanks Teek. Yeah, it's far from ready. The DAS mounts are on the lower outside of the huey by the rear part of the cargo door. All they need to do is have the door pinned back opening the cockpit allowing doorgunners. And it looks like they are going with the mini gun. The 240G would be awesome to have on the opposite side.

Here is a UH-1N mod from Operation Flashpoint, a old game. It's kind of boxy but the mounts and rocket/mini gun setup is correct.

Why asymmetrical armament?

There has been lots of talk of putting a m240 on the huey

hey there Gunny,

Thanks for the input. The DAS mounts, as I'm sure you know, are bloody huge and they were never done with the original model. We are planning on it though :) . As for the gunship model, you can see we already have one, just haven't found it a home (map) yet.

i really wanna see some Door Mounted 240s. I dunno how many times i've killed people with me and my squadmate with a SAW switching from side to side... it's a pretty devestating combo. More so then the BH + Mini's... hmmm.. :  : :  :

The Huey gunship can be used in the Training Mini-Mod for PR. It's in Training Al Basrah.

Please Jaymz, no DAS mounts on the Huey! It's so lovely to be able to fly a round as a transport pilot and not have some berk on a door gun firing off at whatever random stuff they see.

Wrong answer.

We need DAS mounts!

Thanks Jaymz for answering my question on the huey. I would however like to see the AH-1W come back to play as well. I guess you can only place so many weapons and vehicles onto one game platform.

The cobra is still in the game, check gulf of oman and kashan 32 player.
Theres no limit to how many vehicle they can put in the mod other that people might start to whine when they have to download a 12gb file on a 312mbit modem.

Yep, we're only using the AH-1Z since BF2 itself is set in a very near future conflict (hence why they used the F35 as well). Of course it makes so much sense that they used all those "beta" stage aviation toys but modelled M16A2s.... :d uh:

^ Well, the A2's are what people see in Black Hawk Down, so DICE thought, why not... Image

the huey does need some door guns, and soon, as much as I enjoyed it I found it funny that one insurgent could take out a huey crew with one AK47 magazine
